im not sure if it was intentional (but im pretty sure it was) but i really liked how when the still life bit down on and ripped clark apart it seemed very reminiscent to me of goya's "Saturn Devouring His Son" painting what with the proportions and the sort of static agonized look that the still life has permanently on his face

i know it's such low hanging fruit of an analysis but i really cant stop thinking about the backrooms and how it's the perfect allegory to ptsd i really can't. the backrooms as a setting as a metaphysical representation of the amygdala, the hallways the different thought patterns and defense mechanisms you carve into yourself. the constant remembering over and over, even if you dont remember it right. stuck in these same halls, in our same loops, but they change too don't they. never changing enough to make an exit, though. how perfectly clark exhibits the avoidance behaviors of ptsd. how perfectly mary exhibits that intellectual understanding isn't enough when dealing with ptsd, and how she knows it isn't enough, and it's why she can't stand to look at the async scientist in the end because she knows jsut knowing isn't going to change anything at all about how hard it's going to be when we actually DEAL with the backrooms if we deal with it at all. the still life kills clark he second he decides he isn't going to change. the thought of ptsd literally eating you a fucking live if you let it catch up to you like jesus christ i's jsut so very poignant to me

it annoys me for many reasons when people erase jotaro’s blatant misogyny but chief of them is how much depth to the story you lose when you erase that nuance. like jojo is a story about a family, and jotaro is closest to female members of his family (holly and jolyne respectively). the tension of the love he has for them versus the misogynistic coloration of his world view creates a lot of friction for him and explains the bulk of why he acts the way he does toward holly and jolyne both (being cold/aloof if not outright insulting, but showing up in big ways and giving the world to save them both). it also is very important in understanding jolyne and holly’s characters, though especially jolyne. araki says verbatim in a stone ocean sheet that jolyne does not trust men. it really doesnt take much to know jotaro is the cause of that. her relationships with weather anasui and even emporio are colored by it, and it’s why it means so much that jolyne still chose to connect w emporio and weather to the point their lining up is what led to pucci’s defeat (weather’s stand, jolyne’s sacrifice, emporio’s actions in the new universe). also adds interesting commentary to jolyne’s part’s villain being a man. likewise holly developing a stand in the first place is proof to me that she was in theory capable of handling one, but she rejected it and thus it in turn rejected her because she has a warped view of what a woman’s will and fighting spirit should look like due to the era she grew up in, the era of the culture she moved to, and yes, what her family like joseph and jotaro impressed on her (plus some other reasons i extrapolate to conclude but that’s another thing). like it’s such a disservice to all the kujos to pretend jotaro wasn’t misogynistic. and like he does learn better… that’s kinda part of what his whole arc in stone ocean is but like. he def had issues. it’s why it matters that we see him overcome them in stone ocean. it’s why it matters that jotaro breaks the pattern. stocean is all about breaking cycles. ugh it just annoys me so bad when ppl take that away

netflix waiting over a week to confirm that yes *EPISODE 2* is happening THE SAME YEAR episode 1 happened is fucking killing me. i cannot believe episode 2 needed to be CONFIRMED like it was a SEASON. this is beyond parody it's so funny i really can only laugh holy shit. we still dont even have a date

another thing that kills me about noritaro is that kakyoin’s motivation re relationships is that he wants someone he loves more than his pride like someone he is willing to stand for even if it means dying like THAT’S what he was saying in the holly line. i know it’s funny and worded poorly but if you actually look at what he’s saying kakyoin is saying he enjoys feeling safe with holly and at the same time enjoys the desire of wanting to protect her and keep her safe in turn because he’s never FELT THAT BEFORE he never cared enough about anyone to it’s foreshadowing for his relationship w the crusaders and how he will die for them. and then on the otherside jotaro is terrified of someone being devoted to him we see this esp in his interactions with n’doul like he HATES the idea of someone loving him enough they’ll throw their life away he is so scared of that he doesnt want his loved ones to die esp not for him. and it creates such fascinating friction in their relationship because kakyoin likes feeling safe w jotaro like he did with holly but he also just as much likes making jotaro safe and jotaro is so scared of what that means but the sheer smug relief he had in the lovers when kakyoin took over like i think he’s sort of obsessed too and hust UGHHHHH
