More asexuality at World Pride photos!! <3
Just got back to Baltimore a couple hours ago and I'm unpacked, showered, my laundry is washing, and I'm ready to sleep until tomorrow. :) The conference was amazing, the parade and partying was wild, and I got to do a fair amount of site seeing and met some great people. Toronto, Asexys, nothing but love for you!

Hello new followers!
My name is Mia. You might have met me at the Asexuality World Pride Conference in Toronto! I'm an asexual, panromantic (or greyromantic) who is also diagnosed with ADHD (I need to be re-tested to confirm Adult ADHD) and a learning disability known as dyscalculia. Dyscalculia is, in simple terms, a math learning disability that can be described as 'math dyslexia.' I am a nursing aide/personal support worker who hopes to become an operating room nurse, or nursing professor someday (which is near to impossible due to...well, my dyscalculia! But I will keep on trying.) I love to read, and writing is one of my passions. My favourite books are The Lord of The Rings, The Hobbit, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and various works of sci-fi and horror. I love poetry, with Poe, Yeats and Lovecraft as my go-to writers when I need a quick fix. I also like to read an array of assorted occult texts, history books, true crime, anatomy manuals-...literally anything that I can get my hands on. Different and weird is my cup of tea. I listen to a crapload of different bands, with my favourites being: The XX, Imagine Dragons, Rammstein and Dropkick Murpheys. Music is a HUGE part of my life, and my tastes are fairly eclectic. I'll listen to anything from blues, to metal and indie. I'm also heavily into TV. If you name a show, chances are that I've seen at least one episode or trailer of the series. I love life. I love nature, animals, and have a liking for warm blankets and, of course, tea. Because tea makes almost everything that much easier. Making new friends is fun, so please, send me a quick message and I'll be more than happy to reply!
I had a great time at the Asexual World Pride conference today! It was a great opportunity to meet and connect with other asexuals and allies. I learned a lot there and met some very kind people!
I really hope that this can become a yearly thing. I hope everyone else there enjoyed it as much as I did. I give my respects to the staff for putting in so much hard work to make today a huge success.
Eeeeyyy
So today was really awesome and stuff. I was at the International Asexuality Conference hosted down town Toronto.
For people who went but didn't know who I was, I was under my older username "Voltafiish" (as my writing on Black ace stuff is still circulated under that name!).
I was on a panel for the "Asexuality and Ethnicity: A Discussion" with two other folks and the turn out was a lot better than I expected. The discussion was great, and it was so good to see people nodding their head and soaking in information. I was so scared the conversations would get intense and confrontational but they were actually very civil and we had a great exchange in information. :D David Jay sat in on our session, and he asked me a question too (idk why this makes me feel kinda proud but like it's a major community leader asking me for my input so... haha!).
I was also apart of the Aces of Colour caucus and there was only a few of us there (like 6) but we had a really in depth conversation about our backgrounds and how they intersect with asexuality. We also had a really good discussion about asexuality in general. I think having these little caucus groups are really beneficial because it helps you get to know each other better and offers more 201 discussion and is a little more intimate than a big group session.
There was a LOT of people. Like we had more people registered than expected and actually ran out of printed name tags.
I was very apprehensive about the amount of people (due to me NOT being a huge crowd person and tending to keep to myself and only sticking by people I know), but I felt more comfortable throughout the day and made new friends!
I'm very happy I went (and I'm very thankful that bessibels told me I should go). There were some things which were kinda miff but otherwise, it was great.
I'm so thankful for those who worked so hard to put on this conference! <:
I went to an Asexual Pride conference today! It was really fun and informative. I'm pretty sure Ace people are the nicest people ever.
Just getting back home from the Asexual World Pride Conference in Toronto!!! Met some asexy people today! :)
