11. What kind of relationships are you most interested in writing?

My ancient homestuck impulses aside, I like relationships where people argue. Not that they hate each other, but that they fundamentally disagree on something, and one way or another they have to work out that disagreement and end up changing each other in the process. (JotaKak is weird on account of I love both characters but the relationship itself is absolutely off-model for what I usually write.)

13. Name three favorite characters to write.

KAKYOIN, Jotaro, X6-88.

Here is a stream-of-conscious style of some of the MANY scenes I remember vividly from your writing :) Things that made me cry: Mako's letter to Wu (after ignoring the situation for so long) asking if he should come visit. Delirious Mako asking for his mama. Qi telling the story of the Sayuri doll. Lin and Mako fishing. Naoki's Demi Kai. Naoki shooting lightning and Qi/the adults "handling" the would-be robbers. Adult Naoki saying she wasn't pretty and Souzi's response.

Cont. Qi helping Naoki crash Souzi's wedding in the jumpsuit. Zhi and Ping's first kiss. Bataar asking Ikki not to hurt him (after their first time together) and her realizing she didn't want to. Ikki's Ten Years After the Fall chapter. Badgermoles at Qi's "cottage". And SO many more!! I'm jogging my own memory while doing this, so I'll stop now before trying to summarize your 1 million+ words of story. Just know I've read every single word and loved every second of it!

Oh, I love this! Truly, it’s amazing to me as an author the scenes that stick out for readers. Such a variety! Even some ficlets that are the same but are remembered for different aspects.

He was trembling as she held him after he came; this brilliant, determined man, this creator of destruction, breaker of his family’s hearts. He shook in her arms, his eyes closed. “Don’t hurt me,” he whispered into her hair, his voice hoarse with the tears that were seeping down his cheeks. “Please don’t hurt me.”

“I won’t,” she promised, and realized, as she thumbed his tears away, that she really meant it.

I had almost forgotten about that! That story, that story kills me. I love it and hate it more than anything else I’ve ever written. Am still writing. Will still be writing FOREVER, at this point.

Not an OT3, but: I can see the sunbeam 1/grumpy/sunbeam 2 dynamic as LoLo and Su loving on Lin. Maybe at a party, after a bit of champagne and dancing - otherwise they probably couldn't get away with it!

Ikki x Bataar - pure lookin (but naughty) x scary lookin (but soft), Wu x Qi - oblivious nerd x delinquent, Mako x Wu - shy x emotional dork? Maybe??

If you can add in the part where the scary lookin (but soft) guy is also prone to sulky fits when he doesn’t get his way, then yes! :D (Even the whole “loves teasing person B” is Ikki AF.)

Wu and Qi are TOTALLY the oblivious nerd and delinquent! I mean...I even wrote that scene in the kitchen of the house on Ember Island! HA!

I’ll allow Mako and Wu to be shy and emotional dork. I don’t think Mako is shy, but socially awkward works just as well.

Something about the way Qi interacts with Naoki always made me think they walked the fine line between parent/older friend. Or maybe Qi is just a very cool/hip parent! Either way, I love them and their piece in the family dynamic. Thank you for the insight! :)

Yes! That’s what I was going for, for sure. It’s different for Zhi and Meili, especially - by the time Meili was born Qi was just a part of the family, she and Zhi don’t know a family that doesn’t have Qi in it. But Naoki is older, and she can remember a time when Qi was just the driver.

I knew a girl in high school who had a stepmother that was only 11 years older than she was. They were very close; her father died when she was in her first year of University and her stepmom raised her two younger siblings on her own. (Her mother was no longer in the picture for various reasons.) Her stepmother was wonderful; unlike what you always see in media they had a very loving and close relationship. (In fact, they are in France right now with my friend’s oldest daughter, on vacation!) It’s an influence on Qi, for sure.

What is the age difference between Qi and Naoki? I absolutely LOVED the update and Qi was just amazing! It got me curious about Qi's age at this point in the timeline.

Qi is a year older than Ikki, born in the autumn of 162. Naoki was born in the summer of 174, so Qi was 11, going on 12 when she was born.

At this point in the timeline Qi is 23; they’ll turn 24 right before the wedding.

I really loved this update as well. Sometimes, I write things that just make me happy straight out the gate and this was one of them! I’m glad you enjoyed it as well.
