y'know, one AU I'd love to see is one where Axel got Norted instead of Saix. Has anyone written a fic about that? I'm sure something like that exists somewhere...
It's intriguing to think about what a Norted Axel would be like. I'm guessing he would be even more ruthless than usual (as seen in Chain of Memories, Axel can be pretty damn ruthless toward people he doesn't personally care about, and even toward his friends, he's got more than a bit of an "ends justify the means" attitude that leads him to do some questionable things), and his more humanizing moments would be toned down or removed entirely.
I could see him behaving kinda like Xigbar, actually...
And what about Roxas and Xion? Would they still be friends? I could see him being a bad influence on them, sort of a corruption situation
Meanwhile, we've got a nicer Saix. I mean, probably not that nice, the Organization really isn't a nice place, but I could imagine him being the stern-but-fair type, serving as a voice of reason when Axel gets impractically vicious. Maybe he'd also have slightly less emotional restraint here, and by virtue of that, a less controllable berserk form?
I feel like without the Norting, Saix wouldn't have such a high rank, so maybe a Norted Zexion (another thing I'd love to see) would fill that role instead? Axel, even Norted, doesn't strike me as the type Xemnas would rely on all that much
