dropped by the campus and rented a studio to study for my art history exam. the entire campus felt like a ghost town, no one else besides a friend and me rented the studio to work on our projects. it was nice to drop by, and i checked my shared locker and my locker partner had some stonehenge paper (for printmaking) left and gave them to me!

i’m still getting used to my studio classes being online. it really takes a lot of discipline and patience to manage time to do each project for each class. the past two weeks has led me to sleep after class and into the next morning, so hopefully that won’t happen this week :/

spent the whole day painting two assignments. my sweater is stained with cadmium red deep on the sleeves but i’m done with one of two paintings.
my sculpting professor already sent an email telling us to buy supplies but still haven’t given any info on how the scULPTING class will run online
[first cluster review] so my school has something called a cluster review set for fine arts students. its set during the middle of the semester, and essentially a small group of students are set to present the works they’ve made so far in the semester and have it critiqued by other professors and peers.
i was a nervous wreck leading up to my review but it was really chill. the review was really helpful because i got to hear constructive feedback from professors who i never talked to yet. i wish i talked more about my pieces but i was too anxious to open my mouth whoops.
[13 days until orientation] went out for a hot pot meal just before some friends leave for college. we decided to hit muji and grab some pens and notebooks too. can’t believe college is starting in a few weeks and i won’t see the same people for a while.

[materials, techniques, and design] this is my homework for this specific class. all of my foundation classes are currently focusing on values, but in this one, we also think about the forms and movement of a painting (when we’re not talking about different materials or stretching canvases lol). this homework called for a focus on the varying planes of the image, and painted with black and white acrylic paints. i had fun, but i think i like my sketch better lol.

[nov 4, 2019] today in drawing we used india ink and a popsicle stick to draw some still life. i became the background of my friend’s drawing and the resemblance is so uncanny. i decided to go to housingworks bookstore and cafe to buy some books about art and art history and got those two. it’s definitely a steal for only $15 total!
