Yet another reason Tim is the Smart Robin. He knows that Jean Paul was never too tightly wrapped to being with and, quite reasonably, refuses to work with the guy who tries to maim him each time he loses control. Does anone else miss the days when Tim had some self-respect?

BATMAN - JEAN PAUL VALEY

Here’s Tim standing up to an increasingly psychotic Jean-Paul Valley as Batman. After Bruce had his back broken by Bane, he picked Jean-Paul to replace him as Batman (because asking Dick to be Batman made too much sense apparently), leaving Tim as Robin to “keep an eye on him.” Tim’s emotional neglect by his parents made him quite familiar with being left to manage on his own. In this case it’s not a good thing since that neglect has also turned Tim into a hyper-responsible 14 year old who is not very good at knowing when to ask for help sometimes. Tim would rather die than let Bruce down and his parent’s neglect have taught him that asking for help is just that.
