A Mountain Backdrop for a View Across the Denali Tundra (Denali National Park & Preserve) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view looking to the southeast around the Highway Pass area on a bus ride into the national park and North Face Lodge. I did some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLab 3 and then used the ClearView tool to reduce some of the haze present.

Getting My Nature Fix in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking the 100 Hands Pictograph Trail in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument with a view looking to the southeast across the valley with the Escalante River. I decided to use the high ground I was located on and create a sweeping view across this Utah high desert, national monument setting. The eroded and varied landscape with the cliff walls also helped to bring out a layered approach to draw a person into the image, I felt. I did some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation in DxO PhotoLab 5. I then exported a TIFF image to Nik Color Efex Pro 5 where I added a Polarization and Pro Contrast filter for that last effect on the image captured.

Walking Miles in My Shoes (Indiana Dunes National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: In Indiana Dunes National Park with a view looking to the southeast while walking the Tolleston Dunes Trail. This was on a forested sand dune ridgeline with trees starting to show hints of spring with yellow blooming flowers. I decided to use the hiking trail as a leading line into the image and trees. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 4 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

Sunset Light on the Peaks and Ridges of the Wylie Mountains by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the southeast across the landscape present at this trucker parking area in Van Horn, Texas. My thought on composing this image was to capture a view looking across that to the mountains with the sunlight caught on some of the peaks and ridges. I wasn't able to really get on high ground and angle my Nikon SLR camera to capture a more sweeping view, so I worked an angle to find the best setting with the cloud formations in skies above.

Outside Performance in Finding Things Wild (Everglades National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While enjoying a bike ride along the Shark Valley Loop in Everglades National Park, I came across this Great Blue Heron in a nearby freshwater slough. The view extends to the southeast and zoomed in with a NIKKOR Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR to have the heron fill the image with some background sawgrasses and water. I captured several images with this bird, with this sideway look and pose being a favorite.
