Tucked in Off the Beaten Path by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: An unnamed creek I came across in the Ouachita National Forest with a view looking downstream to the west-northwest. In someways, I was using that storm-surged creek as a leading line through the forest, but I was really more focused on the autumn colors present in the leaves. Given the overcast skies present, I was able to meter for those leaves and not have to think about any blown highlights. I did some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLab 3.

Heading off to Walk the Wonder Lake Trail (Denali National Park & Preserve) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view looking to the northwest and across some tundra not long after leaving the North Face Lodge area in Denali National Park. By angling my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward, I felt I was better able to capture a more sweeping view across this landscape and bring more height into the ridgelines and mountainsides off in the distance.

Pinnacles National Park Has a Beauty to Stir a Thirst for Adventure! by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking the Condor Gulch Trail in Pinnacles National Park with a view looking uphill and to the northwest across a hillside of trees leading up to the namesake pinnacle formations. A Setting of Trees in Bloom Along the West Beach Trail (Indiana Dunes National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking across a grassy meadow to trees starting to show signs of springtime bloom. The view is looking to the northwest. I did some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation (and some cropping) while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLab 4. I then exported a TIFF image to Nik Color Efex Pro 4 where I added a Foliage and Pro Contrast filter for that last effect on the image captured.

A Scenic Byway Walked to the Hickman Bridge (Capitol Reef National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While on a hike along the Hickman Bridge Trail with a view looking to the northwest and namesake eroded formation in the distance. My thinking in composing this image was to center the sandstone bridge formation in the image. From the high point I was on the trail, I was able to create a sweeping view across this landscape. The blue skies and clouds would be that color contrast to complement the earth-tones in the lower portion of the image.
