Incorrect TSS Quotes
Because I like to shitpost. I got this from Pinterest and some intense Google searching and just edited it from there. I also made these with ImAcrophobic (wonderful Espresso)! He contributed a huge chunk.
P.S.: I tried to credit most of the quotes, but some of them I couldn't find and others I did myself. We can all bask in its glory, however! And also, the formatting is messed up on my phone, so I suggest your laptop.
The Shadow Society Remake: Chapter 2 Sneak Peeks
Hello everyone!
This is a little bit of a writing update and a little bit of a sneak peek update. I just posted a playable early access sneak peek of chapter 2 (which also contain the prologue and chapter 1, aka the entirety of the remake so far) on my Patreon for rebel-tier members.
When I first posted the demo, I counted it to be roughly around 35k words, code excluded. I haven't excluded code when counting lately since going through the files and copy-pasting each written section while leaving the code takes a bit of time to do. That being said, the Patreon alpha/beta build is currently around 70k words in total (prologue, chapter 1 and the beginning of chapter 2), mostly with code included.
The chapter 1 included in this early access sneak peek is the old version that was available before I privated it in order to work on it more; once I've made the changes I want, I'll add it to the alpha build and hope to have it publicly available again either now in June or July.
I wanted to post some screenshots here and show you what I've been working on :) <3 the genders of the characters were selected at random.
Please keep in mind that the content and writing shown in these screenshots are part of a WIP and will most likely be updated, edited further and/or change down the line.
Azuridia/Azuridian POV Short Excerpt

Words from Mother, long-since abandoned in some dark corner of her mind she rarely sought to revisit, came creeping back as though summoned by her wavering. “Things that have not yet come to pass are as much hindrances as they are opportunities, my darling girl. The shape they take depends entirely on one's own willingness to perceive them as one or the other. You would not let anyone outside the family dictate our fate, now would you?”
“No, Mother,” she had answered. Then, to herself: Not even you.
Azuridia straightens herself, still watching the mess of porcelain laying before her. She reaches up and smoothens back her hair, forcing a few wild strands back into place as the familiar calm finds its way back to her.
As if anyone else could see this through to the end. As if anyone else could bear it.

The MC has adopted a very ugly puppy to save it from a fate in a small, cramped cage. How do the ROs react? (Please include V and J!)
There is no such thing as an ugly puppy😭BUT...
A would not hide their initial disdain. Not because the puppy is ugly, but because they don't want another nuisance distracting them from what they would consider more important matters. They'd basically tell the MC that if they are keen on disrupting their precious peace, the dog will be THEIR responsibility and only theirs. They might complain (very often) about the mess the puppy would make, but I think they would secretly grow fond of the puppy over time...and teach it to obey all of their commands.
R would roll their eyes and make some self-depricating joke, like "of course you would, what with your soft spot for freaks". They would develop a fondness for the puppy but would conceal it by nicknaming it stuff like "mutt" and "ugly" in an affectionate sort of way. They would definitely try and train the dog to make A's life worse lmao.
G would grimace and half-seriously, half-playfully ask the MC if they couldn't have chosen a cuter pet. Unable to say no to the MC's wishes, they'd sigh dramatically and resign themselves to their fate, putting on a theatrical display and go 'woe is me' every time someone would bring up the puppy.
M would gush over the puppy, completely doting on and spoiling it rotten. They'd feel very protective (overprotective, probably) because of its exterior and would spend a lot of late nights researching how to best take care of it and how to best socialize it with other dogs.
Q would inspect the puppy with some curiosity, but would soon retreat, finding the animal a tad too clingy and enthusiastic.
J would smile warmly at both the MC and puppy - one of the few things that have brought a genuine smile to their face in a long time. They would agree to keep it around so long as the MC agreed to help train it properly.
V/Shadowman/Shadowlady would laugh and ask what the MC intends to do with the puppy; they would suggest a few macabre ideas and would show a growing sense of amusement as each of them gets shot down. They might offer the puppy a pat, but then they would probably forget all about it, not sparing it a single thought.
Getting back into the heads of characters you haven't spent time with in years has been a really interesting experience. At first it was a bit difficult to remember what they were like, then it suddenly came easy - some easier than others, but at this point I feel comfortable writing for all of the main cast. It's a bit like slipping into something old and familiar and making something new out of it while striving to maintain that sense of familiarity.
I'm currently writing the scene where the MC meets A for the first time and completely forgot how cruel they can be, but I'm having a lot of fun with it 🤗 sorry in advance to those who encounter A first and have no clue what they're like </3

Haha I'm glad you liked that scene, anon, because I wrote that out and then immediately questioned whether A would really say something like that. But sometimes when writing it's best to go with intuition, and I felt like, yeah, A would definitely say something like that to an MC who's agreed to be under their thumb, so to speak.
If you give them a hard time or challenge them they don't go that far. In a weird way they're very straightforward while simultaneously sort of doing this dance and testing which of your buttons to press and how you react to it.
It's definitely meant in a more derogatory way here but I know some people like that.
If you play as non-binary, though, they simply say "good", because unfortunately I couldn't think of a good gender neutral equivalent to add here.

Will we be able able to follow A’s instructions all the time? Like be as obedient as possible?
There's a variable in place that tracks whether you agreed to let A boss you around or not, and sometimes this will result in additional choices/reactions because of the "deal" you made with them.
So yes, you can definitely commit to following A's instructions, though it'll heavily affect your relationship with them as well as the others to some degree 👀
