"Hey, Hyuuukkie" Bambam called out, reaching over to grab the others hand. It was obvious the younger was nervous and the way his fingers fumbled around awkwardly with Eunhyuk’s hand had conveyed that clearly. "Y’know I lov—"
(flashback)
Confusion settled on his face and he forced himself to ignore the way his heart did backflips against his chest. “W-What’s wrong, Eunhyuk?” Bambam questioned, surprised he even found his voice at that moment but the older kept quiet, the soft sounds of his cries muffling into his palms. There wasn’t much the other could work it, Bambam was ready to get some sleep until a couple of faint knocks rang at his door and pulling it open, the perplexed lad came face to face with a crying Hyukjae. Though, if words weren’t spilling, Bambam wasn’t going to force them and so, instead, he pulled the other into a tight hug. Resting the vulnerable Eunhyuk against him, giving him the shoulder, he believed the other was looking for. “D-Donghae broke up with me.” Hyukjae finally explained and Bambam couldn’t be more than stunned. For the long time he knew those two, he had believed (and the younger doesn’t care much about relationships and believing) that Eunhyuk and Donghae were one of those rare couples that would last forever. And Bambam would have said that— he would have said something, but the little relief that bubbled in his stomach, the slight joy that they had finally broken up, told him otherwise.
(end of flashback).
"I know you what?" Eunhyuk questioned, not truly registering the others words and Bambam, once he broke away from his thoughts, shook his head. A light (slightly weak) smile playing on the corner of his lips. "No, its nothing." He then replied.
— when you smile at me, its so bittersweet.'let me know, before tomorrow comes along,'cause baby im already in too deep.
Two years. It had been two whole years since the Eunhae couple had broken up and exactly two months since Eunhyuk and Bambam started going out. It was a miracle when the other finally said yes, when the younger could finally call Hyukjae ‘his boyfriend’. To the point, Bambam had pinched himself a couple of times to distinguish the difference between his dreams and his current reality— which eventually mixed into one. He finally had Eunhyuk and that was all that mattered. Or so he thought.
The first week was wonderful. They looked like natural lovebirds, buying flowers, having couple rings— going on dates, Bambam lived in bliss. However, reaching the first month mark, the younger knew something was just not right but he pushed it at the back of his head. Negativity shouldn’t exist when his hands were laced with the one that made his heartbeat. Nonetheless, Bambam wasn’t able to do much about the second month and though, he denied it so much— though, he forced himself to believe he was just overlooking things, becoming stupid and just tried — he knew Eunhyuk wasn’t in love with him. That those smiles and chuckles, that affection and care, all that was filled with everything and anything but true love.
— i cant let go. but this i know… i wont let you stay.'if you're not sure about the way you feel.'about the two of us today.
It was Donghae. It was Donghae from the start. It was Donghae after two years. It would be Donghae till the end and Bambam knew — probably more than Eunhyuk did. So, he ignored the way his heart cracked into tiny pieces, the way his chest suffocated him and the way his stomach twisted and turned uncomfortably as his eyes locked on the stunned other. “I think we should break up.” Bambam confessed, not surprised at the strength and willpower it took to just utter those six words and Hyukjae responded back with the quick ‘what’ but Bambam ignored it because ignoring was something he was getting quite good at. “I’m sorry— but I don’t think this could work out. You’re not the one I love. Please forgive me…” He just rambled, not knowing where the limit was, where he was supposed to stop until he saw the flicker of pain flash by Eunhyuk’s eyes and there was nothing much Bambam could do but look away because he was doing exactly what Donghae had done before.
Though, the knocks on the door grabbed both of their attention and that was the cue for the younger to finally let go. He quietly watched as Hyukjae brushed passed him, their conversation momentarily forgotten as he kept his gaze on the spot the other was previously standing on. There was no need for him to look back because Bambam knew exactly who it was behind the door and as Eunhyuk’s stuttering words broke the mere silence, the younger exhaled a heavy breath. His gaze lowering to hide the own hurt in his eyes. “D-Donghae?!” Hyukjae questioned, words stumbling over one and another while the other could do nothing more than smile. Both males eventually lost in their own world and the view of Bambam slipping out the door and vanishing down the hallway went unknown to the pair of eyes he had come to adore the most.
