CHOOSE YOUR FIGHTER
... just joking, they are a team 😌
This is my only contribution, I am deeply ashamed, I will log off now and never come back.
One thing I really miss in later seasons is all those little scenes that showed how good communication Sam and Dean have when it comes to hunts (because we all know it’s terrible any other time).
All the code words, little rules, and inside jokes. “Funky town” meaning “someone’s got a gun on me” or “Poughkeepsie” being “drop everything and run.”
But the best example is probably the episode 2x07, The Usual Suspects. I absolutely love this episode precisely for showing us how great of a team the Winchesters are. First of all, they seem oddly casual about getting arrested (and, in case of Dean, facing the death penalty). They’re focused on the case, Dean goes even as far as to make jokes and pissing off some police officers. But the thing that’s absolutely fucking impressive is that their fake stories told to the cops match perfectly. They didn’t expect to be arrested and they didn’t have time to talk it through, but they know each other so well that they knew what the other one would say.
And then we get these little gems:
Detective Ballard after she finds Dean’s note to Sam, where he signed himself as McQueen: “Hilts is Steve McQueen’s character in The Great Escape.”
Dean to the same detective after she sees the ghost the brothers are hunting: “Go to the first motel listed in the yellow pages. Look for Jim Rockford, it’s how we find each other when we’re separated.”
Not only does it show that the brothers have a contingency plan for almost any situation, it also proves how serious they are about their cases. Dean knows that the cop he’s talking to may just arrest Sam, but he’s ready to risk it and not just because he knows she needs help and trusts she won’t do it. He knows that even if Sam does get arrested again, they will figure something out anyway.
These small details were important in the earlier seasons to establish the dynamic between the brothers. Later we all knew they’re good at what they do, so I guess there was no need to keep showing these things. But man do I miss these scenes!
I’ve just realized that Tumblr has never existed in a universe without Supernatural. For some reason these two are bound in some cosmic way. So maybe all these hysterical posts about Jensen's beer, Misha Collins, and destiel every other day are just ways in which we’re subconsciously trying to keep the world from falling apart?
Because let’s be honest, it’s 2020 and we have no idea what will happen when Tumblr starts existing without Supernatural.
I woke up, saw Misha Collins trending again, thought "what the fuck is it this time," realized he was trending for no reason, and now I don't know if I'm relieved or disappointed.
C*W's guide to queer representation.
Characters you can make queer:
A bunch of hunters and side characters.
An angel.
GOD.
Characters you shouldn't make queer, because that'd be too controversial:
A 300-year-old witch.
A human hunter you've been using to queerbait your audience for 15 years.
I can't get over how vulnerable Dean was in the prayer scene. The tough guy who never let his emotions show, who was always fine. He dropped his game face the moment he thought he could lose Cas again.
