Rewriting Lila's backstory and motives for my rewrite

Not sure if I'll add this to my Miraculous rewrite master thread, since that thing is pretty outdated by now (same goes for my hc post about Marinette hosting fashion shows). But I've been working on rewriting Lila's backstory for awhile, and I've made a really fun breakthrough that I think is way better than her show-counterparts

TLDR; it's because her family heirloom was "stolen" by Ladybug

To start things off with the Order of the Guardians (it will become important later), my rewrite still includes Mages in the plot, who were still given magic by Gimmie in order to create the Miraculous - they can still naturally read Miraculous texts like Grimoires, whereas Guardians can only read them after performing their initiation spell (this was a feature from my old miraculous rewrite posts). Mages and Guardians coexisted in the Order for a long time, but drastically fell in numbers after Fu destroyed the temple as Pavo

He moved to Paris before Germany's occupation, falling in love with Marianne Lenoir. He wanted the two of them to flee to London together when the war broke out, but gave her the Butterfly miraculous when she wanted to stay and fight. He returned after 1945 just in time to learn about Marianne's engagement to Johnny Grassette, and decided to run off without getting back the Miraculous. At some point in the future, the Fox was stolen from him by a young girl, not knowing it's powers originally, but who would start using it to steal food

This woman was the biological mother of Lila and Mamon, who were later turned to the foster system following their mothers arrest. Because she was just a baby, Mamon was adopted by Nadja Chamack and separated from her older sister, who constantly bounced between homes afterwards (she also briefly shared a home with Nino and Chris Lahiffe, who are also former foster kids in my rewrite). This is the reason why Lila lies so often, it's a coping mechanism to help assimilate into a new family

When Gabriel discovered a way to unfiy different miraculous powers together, creating akumas with the Butterfly and damaged Peacock - Lila decided to help Monarch by turning into Volpina to learn more about the Miraculous and her heritage as a Mage; given her history as a problem child, and especially after Ladybug humiliated her in public, she felt more connected to Monarch. However because she wasn't a strong fighter, she was quickly overwhelmed when Ladybug and Chat confronted her, who then seized the Fox Miraculous

To clarify: In this rewrite, Lila has not only been separated from her estranged mother, but from her younger sister as well, and is constantly changing homes because nobody wants to raise a troubled teen. Then from her perspective, the only reminder she had of her actual family (the Fox Miraculous that was passed down to her, if that wasn't obvious) was stolen by the supposed heroes of Paris, who also publicly humiliated her. And if that wasn't bad enough, they then just end up.. giving her necklace to somebody else.. permanently. Lila now feels the heroes have a personal vendetta against her, who are helping everyone BUT her, all the while Monarch was the only one helping her learn about the Miraculous and her powers as a Mage, which of course was taken from her too

Of course, Gabriel was only helping Lila because she had the Fox Miraculous, but to her, the heroes had not only taken away her possessions, but also the one lead she had in fixing her broken family and learning about her heritage. Long story short, she fvckin HATES them

Note: In this rewrite, Lila does not have multiple fake identities, Lila Rossi is her actual civilian name. She does however still become the next supervillain, just at the end of Season 3 when Gabriel is arrested for his crimes. She's able to fix the Peacock Miraculous by herself, and becomes this au's version of Mayura (the Butterfly was successfully returned to Master Fu, who going forward uses it permanently).

At the end of Season 5, Lila is permanently adopted by Fu and is able to learn more about the Miraculous, she makes amends with; Marinette, Adrien, Alya and Sabrina (she and Nino were always cool), and regularly visits Mamon and Nadja! 😁😁

Nino in my rewrite

Because Chained Titans released semi-recently, I've decided to update Nino's rewritten character to include Vita and Nordine. In the past I wrote him and Chris as foster kids to explain why he's friends with Lila (see this post), but having a turbulent home-life seems like enough bonding experience

Dynamics

His parents backstories are the same; they married while Vita was pregnant with Nino, they began disagreeing a lot, turning into a lot of arguing in front of their sons. Instead of resolving in a single episode, his home-life would be expanded across the five seasons (ending in their divorce between the season 3 and 4 timeskip). I'm not sure if they live in an apartment in the show, but they do in my rewrite and they're neighbours with Master Fu

Nino as such is aware of Fu's existence far before the other heroes - not aware of his superhero identity up until Season 2 - he buys Fu groceries, and hangs out in his apartment with Chris when their parents fight more than usual

As for his friendship with Lila, it's kinda like an expanded version of their scene together in Oni-Chan where they bond over their dhared familial issues. Because Lila is much more sympathetic / morally grey, I'm allowing her to have genuine friendships with other people - so now he's Lila's most stable friend, since Kagami "dumps" her for hurting Marinette, and Chloe since they start bonding during Queen Wasp arc. Nino is the one person in his friend group advocating for Lila (similar to Adrien's advocacy for Chloe)

This is made a bit more complicated when he's also childhood best friends with Marinette (I don't think that's they're actual relationship in show, but I'm running with regardless), since he wants to be friends with Lila but protect Marinette from harm. The two of them, and later with Socqueline faced the brunt of Chloe's bullying, culminating in her expulsion following the Derision prank; Nino feels guilty for not being there to protect his friend, which ripples into his dynamics with Chris, Adrien and Alya

Note: They're both chaotic and scatterbrained, it's why they've been friends for so long

He projects a lot of protectiveness over his friends to compensate for his fear of failure, particularly towards Adrien, who he correctly identifies is living with an incredibly abusive parent. Alongside Marinette who helps him figure out his identity, Nino is constantly exposing Adrien to new things

With Alya, he carries over his need for constant non-confrontation from his show counterpart, as living with his parents heavily skews what his perception of healthy relationships looks like, any conflict feels like an argument. They're relationship gets particularly rocky during season 4 following Vita and Nordines divorce, but gets better when they enter couples therapy together (with Dr Psiquat)

Following my point with Adrien, Chris is the pinnacle of Nino's coping mechanism, feeling the need to constantly shelter and protect his loved ones from harm. Nino purposefully keeps his brother in the dark from the truth of their parents relationship, which ultimatley gets him akumatised when the truth finally dawns on him. He puts an emphasis on Chris, since if he can't protect his brother it's almost like he can't protect anyone

As Carapace

After Fu's retirement - as Jade Turtle, not as Guardian (in the rewrite he never was officially made one) - Nino is given the Turtle Miraculous, originally hailing from the Native American box. As Carapace, he's obviously able to make shields, but has the secondary ability to create Lucky Charm equivalents, Turtle Charms. These were created in response to infectious powers like;

Gabriel/Monarchs Akuma's, the product of unifying the Butterfly and Peacock, capable of giving a person superpowers while creating a telepathic connection 🦋/🪶

Lila/Mayuras Amoks, which allow her to create Senti-monsters out of other peoples emotions (outsourcing the emotional labour) 🪶

Chloe/Queen Bee's Drones, allowing her to directly control a target whose stung 🐝

Any power that requires making a creature capable of transmitting magic, the Turtle Charms are capable of protecting against by pressing the center of their shell, creating miniature Shell-ters

Note: People can still get akumatised, amokinised and paralysed if they don't press the Turtle Charms in time. This is needed for S4 and 6 when Marinette starts handing out the Kamiko equivalents, "Xiannu's", to different Parisians, making them temporary superheroes

Anyways, that's my update on Nino's character in the rewrite. I promise I'll talk about the feathers soon (Speaking of, what should I call this rewrite? I want to make a dedicated tag for it)

Yap session about the Chopped Trio / plus their inclusion in my rewrite

Following Astrucs post about Chloe stans being responsible for her getting written out of the show (well deserved btw), I figured I'd talk about her replacements, I've wanted to for awhile

I also decided to tack on my rewrite after writing the main section, it's longer than the analysis 😭😭. I will talk about senti-beings eventually

TLDR; I appreciate their inclusion, I think they're interesting as a group, but dull as individual characters

Since Chloe is all the way in London and Lila got promoted to being the new main villain, the introduction of the Chopped Trio was definitely needed. I like that they're a group of boys, because outside of one-off characters (like Vincent, XY, and I guess Bob Roth) I don't think there's been consistent male low-tier villains before. I like how in comparison to Lila's solo approach and Chloe's use of henchmen, the trio works more like a pack. I think the way they bully ppl is a little bit contrived, but I like that Ray uses his wealth in schemes more, kinda like how Chloe uses her power

With the exception of Loic, a more anger driven person isn't someone we've seen before, I think Ray and Nelson are very derivative of more iconic characters, and it's harder to care as much about them (esp when they're motives are rather flat). Nelson is another intelligent and manipulative brunette except his hairs a mess, Ray is another mean rich blond except his voice is a bit unbearable, Loic is Loic, the trio are intentionally written in a way to make us dislike them and are punished by the narrative more obviously

I presume this is to prevent another Chloe situation from happening, where her fandom is comprised of a bunch of 10 year olds who want to emulate her - I could go on another rant about my opinions on that - I understand Astruc's decision, but it doesn't lend itself well to making the Chopped Trio noteworthy characters

As far as my rewrite is concerned they take up the same role as their show counterparts, but for different reasons. Chloe is actively wanted by police after siding with Monarch and Lila never came back to school after her suspension (they both used to be expelled, but I thought that was a bit unrealistic for Lila since now she only frames Marinette for stealing, Chloe definitely would be tho). Loic and Nelson would be background characters who were previous akuma victims, up until the end of S2 when Ray moves to Paris

Depending on how the show uses them in the future, I may change things a bit, so for now these are all pending ideas. I'm toying with the idea of making Ray Chloe's cousin, who moves to Paris with his dad to help Audrey with damage control (after her daughter publicly becomes a villain), so then I'm thinking Mr Pugnant would take up Noe's role as an influential chairman in TVi

I'm considering making Nelson, Lila and Mamon all related. I've rationalised that Lila might not know her sisters whereabouts because Nadja changed her name when adopting her, but that doesn't hold the same weight with Nelson since they're similar in ages. Maybe they can be unknowing cousins? 🤷 I need input

Edit: I’ve noticed that I’ve made both Ray and Nelson relatives of other characters, so I think it’s better Nel and Lila are seperate

(Accidentally deleted my og paragraphs, I'm seething atm 😭). The three of them don't simply bully people for the kicks, which is the impression I get from the show. Ray does it to emulate/suck up to his father, Nelson does it to feel superior over others, and Loic does it since it's the way he's learned to deal with his anger issues. They also don't exclusively break couples up, since by the time of their formation Marinette and Adrien aren't dating, instead they opt for intimidation tactics; ganging up on people, cornering them, etc.

Rewritten kwami lore (where they came from geographically)

TLDR: I'm making slight alterations to my rewrites lore, in regards to the 7 main jewels as seen in the picture below (answering why they are grouped together in the first place). I will also make some updates to my Totem concept mentioned in this previous post

Because I'm not using the Zodiac Kwami in my rewrite, though they probably still exist in concept, I'm not feeling the need to call it the Chinese Box anymore. I can make arguments for the Fox and Turtle being included; but the Peacock, Bee and Butterfly never made sense to me. And why they were set in Paris of all places always felt a bit contrived

So what I was thinking was about explaining why all these random Miraculous were in the same box together in the first place (without completely scrapping them in place of using celestial beasts, which was my runner-up choice). But I think I've come up with an interesting solution for this arbitrary problem. My idea was that instead of the Chinese Miracle Box, they are all derivative of separate boxes that were grouped together after Fu destroyed the Temple. So in this hypothetical case; Nooroo is from Celtic Box, Duusu is from Indian Box, Pollen is from Egyptian Box, Trixx is from Japanese Box, Wayzz is from the Native American Box, and of course Tikki and Plagg are from the Chinese Box

The lore hasn't changed much as a result, but the inference I'm trying to make is that Fu was scrambling to save as many Jewels as he could carry, preferably the stronger ones. Plus, I think it adds more to Fu's guilt (in the rewrite) if he wasn't even able to save a single box

As far as the Totems are concerned, which were* the replacements for the Native American box in my rewrite, it really depends on how Maino'li is handled in the upcoming Rio special - how Totems work in the show that is - but they're not too important for my rewrites lore anyway. Basically, until further notice they're not canon

Changing Chloe and Sabrina's friendship for my rewrite/au

Since I'm basically making this a series, I've decided to talk about Chloe and Sabrina this time, and how I've changed their dynamic for my series rewrite. I will also be talking about some ideas I have regarding; Lila, Loic, Ray and Nelson, in relation to their characters (keep in mind none of this is in stone yet, an issue with all my rewrites so far is that they've all been a work in progress, sowwy ✌︎︎)

TLDR; there's no Kingdom plotline, nor does Chloe have any secrets siblings - I do like how Zoe's character is progressing but she isn't really needed, so instead I'm giving bits of her to Sabrina. They're friendship is a bit more queer-coded in the rewrite, but it's doomed yuri more obviously toxic from the start. Chloe still becomes Queen Bee, later regressing by siding with Monarch for awhile, and Sabrina takes her place as a hero called Honeybee. There is a Chloe redemption arc

Season Zero (prologue)

With that out of the way. In the rewrite, Chloe and Sabrina meet during the first year of school (way after Chloe first became friends with Adrien) and grow co-dependent pretty quick. Sabrina used to be bullied in the past and uses Chloe as a shield, even if that means bullying others with her, while Chloe has severe parental issues - Audrey hates her, and Andre gives her gifts to shut her up - and so uses Sabrina as a way to get attention. Their friendship ends up becoming a bit romantic, but it never goes passed hand holding

The two end up bullying all the other girls in their year; Rose, Juleka, Mylene, Alix, etc. but honed in on Marinette ever since she first stood up against them. The bullying got so bad that Sabine hired a senior student from her art class, Socqueline, to protect her daughter at school, and for awhile it worked. When Chloe learned about Marinettes crush on Kim, she decided to play a prank on her outside of school. Kim is slightly more mean in the rewrite, (not that he's actively malicious, but his lack of empathy is emphasised), so when Chloe asked him to help out with the pool prank he accepted. Things play out like they did in Derision, except the next day at school Socqueline breaks Chloe's phone instead, leading to her expulsion

Through all of this Sabrina is shown conflicted, knowing what she's doing is wronga; but her fear of breaking things off with Chloe; being alone, ostracised by her classmates, and bearing the brunt of Chloe's retaliation, is too big of a fear. After all, she see's what Chloe's capable of. So instead of acting, she sits and waits for it to blow over

Season One

The two continue bullying everyone, especially Marinette and Nino, all the way up till the new school year when Alya starts attending school and stands up for Marinette, and when the new hero Ladybug saves Chloes life. Suddenly between playing superheroes with eachother and later being buffered by Adrien, the bullying has slowed down considerably, which is all Sabrina has ever wanted. Playing superheroes for Chloe and Sabrina means that they can act romantic with plausible deniability

As Marinette starts cultivating friendships with the other girls bullied by Chloe, and when the truth of the prank last year starts resurfacing, Sabrina's wishes are again granted when Adrien finally gives Chloe an ultimatum in their friendship. Chloe accepts, promising that she'll be nicer from now on

Season Two

Because of Adrien's ultimatum, Chloe and Sabrina start acting nicer to their classmates, kind of like an extended Despair Bear episode. Chloe is only doing it to stay friends with Adrien, but because of her change of heart, Chat Noir decides to give Chloe the Bee Miraculous as long as she continues being nice. This occurs after Volpina has been defeated and her Miraculous is seized, forcing Monarch to step up his game by creating stronger villains (he can't rely on her illusions to make things easier now). As a result, Ladybug and Chat have to give out the other Miraculous

From Adrien's POV the Bee is just another incentive to help her grow, but which has the unintended side effect of giving her all she could have ever wanted - a girl who grew up without proper parental attention, suddenly becoming the center of the entire Parisian media. Now playing pretend superheroes with Sabrina doesn't work like it used too - it even feels insulting - and she can't also get it from bullying others because of Adrien. She can only feel fulfilled when she's Queen Bee, but only when she's actually needed. This is around the time Chloe starts calling the heroes the B-Team, named after her of course. Obviously she doesn't stay as a hero, but the name sticks for some reason

Chloe starts getting frustrated that she's not getting called out more often, beginning to snap at more people more often, eventually causing Sabrina to get akumatised after she yells at her during dress up. She's slipping up more often, and it's becoming clear to Adrien that giving her the Bee probably wasn't a good idea. As a result, the two decide to stop asking for Queen Bee all together, making Chloe even more pissed off at the B-Team

LIla - someone who already hates Marinette and the heroes, and has been trying to prove to Monarch she can still be useful without a Miraculous - starts worming her way into Chloe and Sabrina's friendship to further manipulate her against Ladybug, and together they start plotting ways to frame Marinette and get her expelled, slowly turning on an evergrowingly apprehensive Sabrina. And it's becoming overwhelmingly clear to her that she can't keep going on like this

This comes to ahead during Style Queen, right after Audrey herself dismisses her daughter during Marinettes fashion show (see this post for clarification) and when Ladybug purposely does not give Chloe the Bee Miraculous, but instead to Alya. This is the last straw for Chloe, confronting the heroes right after her mums de-akumatisation, exposing herself as Queen Bee as a final ditch effort for validation. Audrey however does not believe her, but Gabriel does. (by now Lila has a theory that Gabriel is Monarch, and so uses the fashion show as a way to prove her suspicions - planting the idea of a mass akumatisation in his head, around the time the prank occurs)

Things again play out similar to when Lila was framing Marinette for pushing her down the stairs and stealing her necklace, except Chloe and Sabrina are in on it as well, albiet Sabrina is more conflicted, like how she was in Confrontation(?). Marinettes parents, including all her new friends; Alya, Nino, Adrien, Rose, Juleka, Mylene, Alix, and eventually Sarbina soon come to her defense, right before Monarch and Catalyst send out the red-akumas

Despite everything Chloe's put Sabrina through, she still instictfully protects her from becoming akumatised, and Ladybug is forced to give Chloe the Bee for the added support. It's of note that out of all the villains between seasons 1-2 (excluding; Alya, Nino and Chloe), Sabrina and Lila are the only other people not akumatised during Heroes Day. However as Queen Bee, Chloe decides mid fight to keep the Miraculous for herself, willingly akumatising herself into Queen Wasp

After Heroes Day after she and Monarch successfully flee, both Lila and Chloe are expelled from Francois Dupont (Lila of course is the only one in the room to be expelled, since Queen Bee is on the run and taking refuge with Lila), while Sabrina only gets a suspension

Season Three

Taking place right after Sabrina is back from her suspension, she has a lot of time to think about her actions throughout the past few years. Even after everything though, she's still misses Chloe, and feels an overwhelming amount of guilt because of it. She initially avoids the main group for this reason as well, but after getting picked on by Ray, Loic and Nelson, Marinette decides to initiate her in the group

All the while Chloe helps out Monarch during akuma fights, puppeteering the villains with her Drones, her secondary power, as of the request of Monarch (they have each-others contacts as Miraculous users, same way the Miraculers have contacts with each-other in the show). Her ability to be useful for Monarch is really the only thing pushing her forward at this point, and she and Lila start bonding over that same feeling

After Alya discovers a way to decipher the Grimoires secrets - because Fu was never underwent the initiation spell, meaning he can't read Miraculous text - the heroes are now able to use potions whenever they want. Lila can read miraculous texts because she comes from a line of Mages, but she was never given the time or resources to figure out the books secrets. But eventually the B-Team is able to seize back the Bee Miraulous. Although Andre is able to get his daughter off easy, she's put under house arrest and is forced into court-mandated therpay sessions with Dr. Psiquat

Sabrina throughout this whole development has been on an apology tour, making amends with most of the people she's hurt in the past (she even becomes friends with Marc and Nathaniel, who help her realise she's gay), all except one person. When Socqueline visits Paris following Chloes punishment, she doesn't forgive Sabrina for her part in getting her expelled and gets akumatised. Ladybug ends up giving her the Bee miraculous to help out in the fight, becoming Honeybee. In the end, Socqueline still doesn't want anything to do with Sabrina, but wishes her well. And Sabrina has to live with that

Anyways, without Queen Bee to help him control the villains, in addition to the B-Team getting access to potions the previous season; Monarch is starting to spiral and gets incredibly sloppy, eventually causing the heroes to discover his secret hideout. There the heroes uncover Gabriel's plan to bring back his dead wife, and Chat Noirs identity is basically exposed, but together the heroes are able to arrest him, Nathalie and Tomoe for their crimes

They unfortunately are only able to recover the Butterfly, since Lila had stolen both the Peacock and one of Gabriels grimoires beforehand. Sabrina, alongside the other heroes, end up going into hibernation, giving their Miraculous back to Fu until they're needed again

Season Four

Between seasons 3 and 4 is a one-year time-skip dealing with the aftermath of Gabriels crimes, and giving Lila ample time to study the grimoire and fix the Peacock Miraculous. She becomes a new supervillain called Mayura, who brings the B-Team out of hibernation. Chloe's still going through court-mandated therapy, and she's getting better; Sabrina checks up on her occasionally but not enough to say that they're friends, and she hasn't been able to talk to Lila ever since she moved back in with her dad

All the characters are going through a lot, even after the timeskip. For Sabrina, she's still grappling with the guilt of her past actions, and her inability to discuss her relationship with Chloe without also outing her to people, because even after all this time she still cares a bit about Chloe and it's confusing. She also develops a crush on Marinette (because I love stealing from Zoe's character) and becomes scared of potentially regressing, so much so that a senti-monster is created out of her fears

Not directly related to Chloe or Sabrina, but penultimate fight this season takes the form of a city-wide senti-monster, encompassing the collective trauma of all Parisians. The amok of course, gets put into the Eiffel Tower

Season Five

This season is when Chloe starts contemplating leaving Paris, since now she knows nobody in the city likes her; not her parents, nor her old classmates, nor the entire city, nor her three only friends. She ends up telling this to Ladybug (like how she did in Malediktator, but instead the context is after an amok was created out of her despondence), which inspires Marinette and the others to help her get better, starting off by telling Andre how much of a terrible father he is

Because they're now all in close proximity to a therapist now, it finally gives the heroes the chance to talk about their traumas outside of their friend group (in their own sessions, of course), giving Sabrina room to discuss her previously mentioned fears. This is very needed when there's a villain in Paris capable of turning your emotions into kaijus

It's when Lila/Mayura creates a senti-monster out of Chloe's emotions is when she's given a Xiannu - Fu's equivalent of a Kamiko - to indicate show how much she's improved from the last time she got powers, and is finally let off house arrest

Through Chloe, the B-Team are somehow able to figure out that Lila is most likely Mayura (can you tell the end of this rewrite isn't as fleshed out?), ending in a 5v1 between them. In the end, after Lila is defeated and explains her backstory (explained here). The heroes end up advocating for Lila to undergo therapy, and everythings alright in the end or something, I've spent an entire week working on this post, cut me some lack pleaseeee

Just some final notes:

After Choe becomes a villain; Ray, Loic and Nelson become the replacement bullies (speaking of, depending on how Nelsons character pans out I might make him Lila's brother) I like how unapologetically awful they are, and how they fill Chloe's role as the civilian-life drama makers

Queen Wasp (as a name) is only used when she's akumatised, she keeps using the Queen Bee identity even when she's sided with Monarch

Chloe ends up telling Sabrina her superhero identity way before she tells everyone at Marinettes fashion show. This ends up factoring into Sabrina's akumatisation; it's not only because she has a crush on Chloe, it's because of the inherent power dynamic they have, how she's abusing her power, and Sabrina realising that she isn't as protected from it as she thought

If you've read my Lila post, you'll know she's much more sympathetic in the rewrite. As such, her friendship with Chloe is more genuine than the show

Following that last point, I'm more lenient with Chloe and Lila getting redemption arcs (in comparison to Gabriel, Nathalie and Tomoe) because in the end they're both children. The intention is never to endorse/forgive their actions though. Marinette and Nino still both don't like Chloe by the end, Sabrina is still terrified of Lila, and Socqueline still doesn't want anything to do with the girls who got her expelled

Kagami's ring was taken out of Tomoe's possession when she was arrested, so for the most part she's safe

The heroes learn abt each others identities at the end of Season 4 (no I didn't edit this in hours after posting, wym?)

Small Kagami post - in regards to my rewrite/AU

It's been awhile since I've posted about the B-Team rewrite, lol

Anyways, I was thinking a bit about Aurore and Mirelle the other day, mostly because I remembered how in the Scarlet Lady AU (@zoe-oneesama's MLB comic, give it a read) I believe Aurore dating Kagami. Plus, because of the recent Kagami-centered episode and also because I've rewritten Nathaniels mum (who I'm calling Nina) as a meteorologist/weather reporter - post linked here, it's gotten me thinking about weather a lot

Note: Though not directly related to the topic, Kagami and Lila are not sisters in my rewrite. I am fine with the reveal in show, but it doesn't work for my version of Lila - which was decided on before Dirtifiers

All this to say, I think what I'll be doing going forward in my rewrite is replacing Mirelle with Kagami. To clarify, I'm suggesting making Kagami and Aurore rivals for the KIDZ+ weather girl position/in Stormy Weather

Kagami remains a sentibeing alongside Adrien, she still spars with him and has an interest in art, but now she's also interested in weather as a callback to Ryuko (for in this rewrite, the Zodiac Kwami do not exist). I'd like to think her akumatisations would play into this new interest; obviously Aurore has control of weather phenomena, and if you read my Dupain post you'd know Nina has solar powers, I think I'd carry over the Dragon's power of physically transforming into different weather

One thing I will say about the show. I think weather would've been a great representation of Kagami's arc if Longg wasn't the Kwami of Perfection. Weather is unpredictable and uncontrollable, everything Tomoe is against her daughter embodying as a sentibeing. I would try emphasising that during seasons 4-5 when the Butterfly is brought over to the heroes side, and when Kagami can choose to defy her mother

I'd also obviously make her and Aurore a couple (after Adrigami has sailed their course) because Felix isn't canon to my story and I would never pass LGBT representation during Pride Month

List of custom powers from my Miraculous rewrite

Straight off the back of my last post, this post will cover the base powers of every Kwami, and all the custom powers unique to each character (reading the previous post is kinda mandatory for any of this to make sense)

Tikki

Tikki is the Kwami of Creation, whose base power "Lucky Charm" lets her holders create an object, always capable of solving a problem. This is a single-use power that drains the power gauge

Both Marinette and Adrien (as Ladybug and Mister Bug) have the power to reverse all damage and casualties caused by a villain, by tossing the Lucky Charm up into the air the object disperses into a flurry of magical ladybugs. Because their secondary power works like an add-on to their base, it doesn't drain any "juice" from the gauge by itself. The two need to have the same power due to practicality, as otherwise Paris would crumble after just a few akuma attacks. Alya on the otherhand can upgrade any object and make it into a magical weapon, like turning into a stick into a wand that reverses damage, or making a pair of shoes able to run like lightning. This is another single-use ability that's a lot more tricky to use - either she creates a random object guaranteed to help if she can figure out how to use it, or choose an object herself that runs the risk of failing

Plagg

Plagg is the Kwami of Destruction, whose base power "Cataclysm" lets his holder erode and destroy any object they touch. This is a single-use power

Adrien's secondary power (as Chat Noir) is a reinterpretation of "Clout", which lets him scream out damaging shock waves, increasing in power the more damage he's sustained. This is a gauged ability, meaning as long as he has "juice" in his Miraculous, he can emit these shock waves repeatedly - keep in mind the stronger his shock waves are, the more his gauge is drained. Marinette (as Lady Noir) on the other hand gets a passive Jinx ability that causes misfortune and accidents to happen around her. Passives functions exactly like gauged abilities, but which constantly drain the gauge over time. Lastly with Nino Lahiffe as Cat Walker, he is able to create bubbles of "nullification zones" otherwise called Blackouts, which inhibit the use of magical based superpowers all together - they don't provide perfect protection against villains, but they can stop people from becoming statues or something. This is a gauged ability, where larger Blackouts drain the gauge more

Trixx

Trixx is the Kwami of Perception, whose base power "Mirage" lets his holder cast visual and auditory illusions. When touched by somebody, or shot through using an object, the illusion dissipates

As Volpina, Lila's custom power lets her create smoke clouds, which if inhaled, causes a sensory overload in people. This is meant to disorientate attackers and give her a quick getaway, but can be easily foiled by holding your nose, getting rid of the smoke, or by drinking the Pink Potion. This is a gauged ability that drains depletes at constant intervals. As Rena Rouge, Alya has the secondary power to project peoples memories by playing a song on her flute, kind of how the "Rejoice" power projects a persons deepest wish. The projections themselves takes the form of CD's, which turn into a circular screen when played. This power is a single-use ability that additionally immobilises the target

Wayzz

Wayzz is the kwami of Protection, whose base power "Shell-ter" lets his holder cast near-indestructable, orbital shields around targets, being a single-use power. Fu's custom power (as Jade Turtle) is an add-on to his base power, allowing him to actively change his shields shapes; whether that's by separating them into two smaller orbs to act like punching gloves, spreading them out to make a wall or adding spikes onto them, the possibilities are endless. Nino (Carapace) also has an add-on ability, able to turn his shields into small turtle charms that repel infectious powers like; Monarch's Akumas, Mayura's Amoks, and Queen Bee's Drones when activated. These charms stay even after he has detransformed.

Clarification: The charms have buttons on their shells, which when pressed turn into miniature shields - a reinterpretation of Marinette's charm ability

Pollen

Pollen is the Kwami of Action, whose base power "Venom" lets her holders freeze whoever they attack in place, and as such is a gauged ability. When paralyzed the frozen cannot interpret what's happening in front of them, since they're brain similarly freezes

When using the Bee, Chloe is able to create up to five infectious bees called Drones, draining 1/5th of the gauge for each, which if stung by one of them will turn a person into Queen Bee's puppet - effectively mind control. This power is most prominently used throughout Season 3, where she takes control of different villains ensuring that they don't break out of the Akuma. As Honeybee, Sabrina is able to drain her own gauge at will, and able to replenish her allies' gauges with it; she does this by twisting the bottom of the spinning top, which starts leaking honey

Nooroo

Nooroo is the Kwami of Transformation, whose base power "Cocoon" lets his holder transform a nearby person into a superhero. This is a single-use power for the Butterfly holder, as opposed to the newly transformed hero who can use their power indefinitely

Skipping over Gabriel for now, since the unification changes how he can use custom powers. Master Fu as the hero Fritilary can create butterflies in the likeness of Akumas, called Xiannu's (the Kamiko equivalent), allowing him to send superpowers to people from long distances, which is very convenient given his old age. They are able to put in small boxes, in which the B-Team offers to civilians for their assistance. Marianne Lenoir also used the Butterfly Miraculous during WW2 but I haven't figured out her power yet

Duusu

Duusu is the Kwami of Emotion, whose base power "Senti-monsters" lets her holder create a physical manifestation of their emotions into a monster

Again skipping over Gabriel for now, Master Fu temporarily used the Peacock Miraculous - calling himself Pavo - chose a custom add-on power allowing him to feel what his senti-monsters were feeling (in order to stop starving). Emilie, as Peahen, chose the single-use power to detach a Senti-Monster from their object: because of her infertility, she chose to create Adrien in utero, who then detached him from the Twin Rings, allowing him self-autonomy (in comparison to Kagami). He still can be influenced by the rings in the form of impulses, but his life is truly his own. Lila on the other hand (as Mayura) chose another add-on power, allowing her to create Amoks - plucked feathers capable of outsourcing the emotional labour of creating senti's onto other people. Tomoe also used the Peacock but similar to Marianne I haven't figured out her custom power

Effect of Unifications

Unifications are a separate system created by Gabriel/Monarch in order to access stronger powers; using the Butterfly and Peacock, he used up both his "custom slots" from both Miraculous in order to create Akuma's, an infectious Butterfly that can both give powers to a target from a distance, and the power to control them by emotionally overwhelming them into submission.

Clarification: Every custom power requires using up a single "slot", which is provided by their Miraculous (One miraculous, one extra power, one available slot). Unified powers, in this case Akuams, overwrites both of Gabriels extra-powers and fuses them into one

This requires him always using both Miraculous in order to use his one power power, since if he's only using the Butterfly the single jewel doesn't have enough slots to perform a two-slot power

Miraculous rewrite: Power-system

Hey guys, this is a follow-up from my previous posts comment section, where I was talking about my Miraculous’s rewrites power system. Mostly making this since it’s a bit confusing, so I hope that I’ve explained it well here 😅😅😅

To start things off, Kwami are still the physical manifestation of concepts, and the Miraculous are still the objects that let them exist physically. After the destruction of the temple, the only remaining Miraculous that survived were the main seven (shown in the above photo)

Each Miraculous grants a base power that everyone of its holders can use universally, and an additional power that’s customisable to the user (using Ladybug as the example, her Lucky Charm is the base power, while her Reset ability is the custom power). Other heroes can share the same power, like how Mister Bug can also reset damage, but they are forever locked into using just that power

Both base and custom powers are broken up further into two categories; single-use and gauged powers. For example, Chat Noir’s Cataclysm is single-use, meaning it cannot be done repeatedly. However, His secondary Shockwave power is gauged, meaning it can be done as long as there’s enough “juice” in his miraculous (in his case, the shockwave’s juice intake is dependent on how much damage he’s taken, more damage = a stronger shockwave)

EDIT: Forgot to include Passives and Add-Ons. Passive powers are like Gauged abilities, but are on a constant cooldown. Lady Noir’s jinx passive for example causes accidents around her, and so is constantly being used up

Add-On’s on the other hand are upgrades to the base-power, like how Ladybug can additionally reset damage by throwing her lucky charm up into the air, or like how Fu can change the shape and structure of his shields

The five-minute cooldown only starts when the gauge has completely emptied (single-use powers completely drain it); with children, it means they’ll instantly detransform once the timer has hit zero, and while adults are exempt from this - staying in costume - they can’t constantly reuse their powers. Any attempt to use powers with an emptied gauge causes damage to the body, whether it’s a child or an adult

A broken Miraculous, in the case of the Peacock, will constantly drain a users life force to make up for its broken gauge, and can only be fixed by a Mage (i.e. Lila)

Because the rewrite only uses 7 Miraculous, Potions take up the space left by Unifications (though it still exists in the story). Potions* are terrain modifiers that help their holder adjust to adverse environments;

Red is for desert traversal and gives an immunity against hot temperatures

Orange is for underground traversal and glows in the dark

Yellow is for aerial traversal, gives its user flight and protects them from harsh weather

Green is for underwater traversal and lets the holder breathe underwater

Blue is for ice/blizzard traversal and gives an immunity against cold temperatures

Purple is for space traversal, lets their user fly and breathe in space

Pink is for magic traversal, which gives them an immunity against magically induced side effects (say if a villain was able to put people to sleep, the Pink Potion would protect a user against that)

Goes without saying but for a Potion to work as intended, it requires using a Miraculous. Neither people transformed by the Butterfly, nor Senti-Monsters can benefit from Potions. Jewels similar to the Miraculous, like the Prodigious and the Totems, can

In the rewrite, unifying the Miraculous is not a natural ability for most holders, it’s a forbidden magic created by Gabriel to create use stronger powers. While unified, the holder has access to the base powers of both Miraculous, and a single custom power that replaces the pre-existing ones. Unification additionally has a mental tax, where how many Miraculous being used directly scales to how fast a holders mental health deteriorates

To clarify: Akuma’s are the customised power of the Butterfly and Peacock combined, unique to Gabriel, but can only be used while he’s unifying them - because akuma’s take up both of his custom “slots”, he doesn’t have access to any other custom power unless he finds another Miraculous to use

Lastly, in regards to the Shanghai and NYC specials, neither use Kwami’s. The Prodigious (and by association the Renlings) were an imitation of the Miraculous created by the Guardians, who misunderstood what Mages were actually able to do, and wanted to create Kwami’s themselves. The Prodigious as a result is a very dangerous item, since the Renlings aren’t true embodiments of human values, but creatures modeled after strict definitions. If you turn into an animal without embodying the corresponding value, it damages your body in the way misuing a Miraculous does

NYC on the other hand uses Totems, which were independently created from the Miraculous. Instead of representing concepts, they’re the physical manifestation of the land. If the environment is doing ok, a Totem is stronger. If it’s damaged/polluted, the weaker they are instead. Additionally, transforming isn’t just for the holder, both parties transform and work together (Totems also exist in every country, but they work slightly different from eachother on account of being developed separately. This section is just for America)

To clarify again: say you have a wolf Totem, you and the Totem would have a dual transformation, and are expected to work together in combat
