book 1 chapter 1 (#b1c1)
the introduction to horrortale, set in the ruins. aliza falls into the underground and meets flowey, gets taken in by toriel but quickly finds that she plans to keep aliza trapped in the ruins. with flowey's help, aliza attempts to escape the ruins, but she dies to horror. in her escape attempt, horror is first seen collaborating with toriel and killing aliza before she can escape.
book 1 chapter 2 (#b1c2)
aliza leaves the ruins and meets horror, a sadistic sans continuation with a red eye and bashed in skull. along with papyrus, aliza learns the rules of snowdin, such as how humans are eaten as food for the starving monsters, horror hasn't eaten a human ever, and that something drastic happened to sans a while back. horror doesn't take that lightly, threatening aliza multiple times and almost eating her in this chapter. but suddenly, undyne visits snowdin...
book 1 chapter 3 (#b1c3)
a flashback to horrortale 7 years ago. the core shuts down, the underground struggles to survive, and alphys comes up with an ultimatum to use horror as a power source. undyne refuses to go ahead with it, and horror overhears the conversation through an echo flower. however, he still heads to the core in papyrus's steed, marching to his death.
book 1 chapter 4 (#b1c4)
horror arrives at his grave, and undyne is just barely hanging onto the last bit of her rationality. after horror suggests to completely disassemble the core, she loses it, and a fight between her and horror break out, which results in horror losing his eye. however, the eye keeps him alive after his "death", and he enacts revenge on undyne, alphys, and dooms the whole underground by destroying the core.
book 1 chapter 5 (#b1c5)
undyne visits snowdin because someone ate the last monster candy, and aliza decides to disguise herself to protect snowdin. she doesn't get far, but papyrus comes up with the excuse that she's his niece (and therefore horror's kid). undyne tries to get aliza to join her to get information about horror, but is stopped by other snowdin monsters. horror arrives and undyne leaves, but after finding out about aliza's disguise identity as his kid, has a mood swing. his mood swing is only stopped when papyrus shows up and aliza must choose between horror or papyrus to do the final puzzle for. she choses papyrus.
book 1 chapter 6 (#b1c6)
papyrus's puzzle results in aliza entering the oven in horror and papyrus's house. papyrus is lured in by the smell of aliza cooking and knocked out. meanwhile, horror is at grillby's and speaks about his guilt and pointlessness of life in the underground to the snowdin monsters attempting to alert him of papyrus's state. despite refusing, he still goes, and is triggered into a state of hunger until aliza gives him human-free ketchup he made. he backs off after this, and aliza has survived snowdin and beat all of horror and papyrus's puzzles.
book 2 chapter 1 (#b2c1)
after surviving snowdin, aliza's journey continues. toriel leaves the ruins with the idea to kill aliza so undyne won't get to her first and break the barrier, and papyrus agrees to this idea. aliza hears about this and flees snowdin. horror and papyrus's house is visted by undyne's soldiers searching for aliza, but horror lies to them about her whereabouts. with the threat of a raid upon snowdin, aliza enters waterfall all on her own.
book 2 chapter 2 (#b2c2)
aliza makes it to waterfall and things aren't much better for her there. horror sports a new gray eye, and there are several references to him and the CORE incident. after solving various puzzles, one of which involve returning a meaty bone back to horror, aliza is able to further progress thanks to the help of onionsan.

Chapter One: The Unexpected Visitor
The gloom in the air from the fresh fallen rain was enough to keep one in bed all day, and having to spend the earlier hours of the morning getting ready and dressed for school was most definitely at the bottom of Remus Lupin's list of thing's he'd rather be doing. It wasn't the learning part he dreaded. In fact, if he had it his own way, that's all school would be is in complete isolation doing his best to finish the coursework. His reluctance came from being moved around to a different school every year since he's started. The battle to make new friends and adjust to a new environment had hit the point of exhaustion around the third time he'd needed to introduce himself to a classroom. Try as they might to stay, sooner or later he'd come home to his father pitching a new place to live, usually because the nature of his family was starting to become more apparent.
Chapter one was much like I remembered it to be. Caught a few things that I didn't before. Hagrid having Sirius' bike and saying it was his by name. Also the reference to bonfire night. I missed that as an American kid. Feeling hostility towards Dumbledore because McGonagall told him how AWFUL the Dursleys were and he just ignored it...
