‘i thought that thing was dead!’

i thought. thing is, in this line of work what one thinks doesn't matter much - you see something infected, you shoot at it no matter who they used to be before you're the next target. it comes easier with time and experience, but it's not like claire is going to hold it against ashley anyway.

"they always come back for some reason," the trick is waiting and not get distracted. difficult sometimes, but claire trusts ashley will figure what works best for her eventually. "hey, you're a good shot though." beat, hand offered towards the blonde to help her get up. "good job, agent."

and she's not wrong, it is a lot of blood, but there's very little he can do about it in a place like this. a makeshift bandage to try and stem the bleeding was the best he could do, and he would just have to hope it holds. his arm burns with every movement, but what could be expected when it had been impaled on rebar? when was the last time he'd had a tetanus shot ... ?

❝ i know, i'm okay though. still got plenty more blood to lose. ❞ he'll survive. he always does. eyes focus on ashley, checking her over for any injuries that she may have sustained in the fall, relieved to find she fared better. not unscathed, but not fatally injured either. clutching at the burning arm, he nods to the exit of the collapsed area. ❝ let's get out of here, yeah? ❞

The headache, or migraine, or whatever it is, it’s not going to kill Nadine. That’s why it took them so long to say something in the first place, but holy shit it fucking sucks. As soon as they’re offered pills, the ibuprofen is gone. Swallowed without any hesitation.

“Fuck, dude, you’re saving my life right now.” Maybe dramatic, but it feels real. “This shit is like.. god, I feel like such a baby complaining about it but it sucks!”

the swelling of his ankle is nearly unbearable. the feeling of the bear trap still wrapped around it leaving a searing pain in its wake. every step on the uneven terrain is a reminder of the toll he's taken. he has to thank the adrenaline pumping through him for the fact that he can still walk on it, for the fact that his entire body hasn't given up yet. the accumulation of everything will certainly come soon, but rest will come only, and only when this mission is complete, and [ ASHLEY GRAHAM ] is home safe, and las plagas free. " don't worry about me, " the response is quick, his head canting towards ashley, hoping his expression gives at least something akin to comfort.
