Good news: My party has set up a settlement for all the surviving wives from the sociopathic warlock's compound. Called "Hero's Rest," named after the party.
Great news: Alvura, my barb/druid has found out she's the descendant of the prime ancestor of her clan (which was destroyed), and there's a prophecy that the first Wolf-Blood in 300 years (Alvura is a werewolf now) is to be the new queen of the clan and restore them to a point of greatness.
Amazing news: Alvura did the drug trip that traditionally brings her clan members into proper adulthood, along with her beloved Lyre, the tabaxi she saved.
Absolutely wonderful amazing news: Lyre is now pregnant with TRIPLETS
Strange news i still don't personally understand: They're...biologically Alvura's I guess? Somehow???? I ain't complainin
Part of me is a little crushed that I didn’t get to have that special bonding time with my baby immediately after birth. He didn’t get to lie on my chest immediately. I didn’t get to try and nurse within the hour. I wasn’t even conscious for his birth, or for the first several hours of his life. I only held him once or twice in the first 24 hours because I was too weak. I couldn’t feed him a bottle during that time because I was hooked up to too many machines trying to ensure I stayed alive.
The first thing I saw when I woke up was my husband holding him next to my bed and showing me that he had his same unusual ear shape. That’s one of the most special moments of my life.
I know in the end it doesn’t matter. I get plenty of bonding time with the baby now. He seems to recognize me as a parent. He rarely nurses, which hurts my heart a little because I love the bonding feeling when he does. I feel lucky that I’m alive, though, and that he was born healthy and strong despite the risks we didn’t even know were there. I’m steadily recovering. Soon all of this will be a wild memory at least.
could you imagine...
