and then Fitz defends him to the royal courts when Dex does something stupid/ illegal for the greater good and Fitz would rather be kicked out of the kingdom than let Dex face it alone, and Fitz also protects Dex’s family when they face discrimination

I actually have thought something of that! It’s just such a delicious idea tbh. Hear me out tho… Prince Fitz with commoner Dex. Fitz cant be with him BECAUSE he is a man and BECAUSE he is a commoner. Just because hes second in line for the throne doesnt mean anything, because either way it’s an unequal marriage.

But, going down the knight x prince route, I think the biggest conflict would be discovery. Once again, it’s an unequal marriage bc of status and also yknow dex is a man which is no bueno for continuing a royal line. Tbh I’m not completely sure how that’d pan out….
