I have to admit that Murtagh is kind of a badass for surviving and escaping Bachel and her cult. Especially after finding out she’s the big reason Galbatorix and the foresworn became who they were. But I think it’s also because he found the strength to ask for help when he needed it. Galbatorix strategically kept the foresworn divided and fighting amongst each other. It was lucky that Murtagh had found help. Probably because Bachel figured Murtagh wouldn’t accept or ask for help from an urgal and she probably thought Alin would remain loyal to the dreamers.

Because I'm dead serious about how 'evil' characters shouldn't automatically be 'evil' in every AU; Bachel in a modern AU not only being Galbatorix best frenemy. But also having escaped the cult she grew up in and that being the reason why she wanted to become a lawyer. To help other victims of cults (and to buy herself expensive dresses, because she's a person too and loves fancy stuff).

I remember when first reading The Inheritance Cycle I was obsessed with the gaslight gatekeep girl boss Queen Nasuada. I really hope Paolini doesn't abandon the strong roots of his female characters in the next few books. He's capable of making a strong, yet flawed leader that is Nasuada and create the absolute monster that is Bachel. Give us more girlbosses that haunt our dreams, Paolini.

Just had an horrible thought for an au. Young Galbatorix got captured by Bachel, he's getting tortured violently, but one day he managed to deceive his abusers and run away from the camp to search for help. He didn't go far when he meets Morzan, who went in the Spine in search of him.

But Morzan can't see him, nor hear him or feel him, it's as if he doesn't exist. Galbatorix screams at him for help but he can't do anything because of the spells. Bachel finds him and drags him away while he's still looking at a defeated Morzan.

There was that whole shit with the Draumar and Bachel, and I was thinking about how was she taking care of her cult.

Murtagh didn't see any elves, which is fine, elven kids are scarce, they are probably protected at all costs, and it seemed like she was actively brainwashing her followers since childhood. But there were dwarves, and Hrothgar was well over 200 when he died, so it's a possibility that she had followers who were around since the Fall.

It was implied that the Order sent Galbatorix&Jarnunvösk and their companions there on purpose. Bachel probably didn't like them too much. But she very much liked Azlagur.

And there was that girl, Alín, who was kind of worshipping Thorn (and basically all dragons), almost elf-style. That was probably taught to her (but not to Bachel's right hand-man, I guess). If they were worshipping Azlagur, then it's kinda understandable, right?

Anyway, my question is how much had Bachel's teachings changed after the Fall. Like, there were no dragons anymore, wild or not, flying over them accidentally. She could talk about the dragons all she way she wanted to. (Except if the Forsworn were really being guests there for a while, then probably the nameless dragons added more nuance to the picture ---- oh dear what if Alín offered to help Thorn washing up because it was a common thing to do with the nameless dragons and it stayed in the village's common knowledge even after Galbatorix and Bachel parted ways?)

Summing up:

dragons are the friends of the Draumar

dragons are worshipped by the Draumar

dragons (Thorn) are the enemies of the Draumar

So like... there were a few ideology changes in out world in the past 100 years, but damn shit, Bachel was there orchestrating all of that. It's wild.
