Jaden can't blame his sister and nephew for taking up Mephisto's deal. On paper, it's a dream come true - albeit a challenging one because of the language barrier Dennis now has to deal with, and the time zone difference they all have to work around to stay in contact while the kid is overseas. But it's still a major relief on his and Penny's pocket books, and the new scenery could prove to be beneficial for Dennis' mental health too. He barely took to the other academy despite agreeing to go there so he could empower himself against the new, harsh reality Jaden had accidentally dragged him and Penny into. But that had also started shortly at Penny and Rob split up, so maybe...
Jaden brushed the thought aside. Speculative thoughts were useless, and he wouldn't waste his time with them when they could only lead to useless what if's and anxiety. Reality needed his focus, and the reality was Dennis sat a little too closely to some key targets of the Illuminati and M.E.C.H. now, which did make Jaden anxious. The True Cross and the Illuminati were at war with each other, and M.E.C.H. was being led into that war since taking up an allyship with the Illuminati. What that all meant though, Jaden didn't know.
But what could be done about the situation? And what could he say about it? After the botched recon mission around the Gehenna Gate, Jaden wasn't so sure he could freely speak about M.E.C.H. anymore. Not that he ever did, but he did allude to being part of a small group of independent exorcists from time to time as a plausible explanation on how he knew things regarding demonology and exorcisms. And to some extent, it was true!
Now though, he wasn't so sure. M.E.C.H. was beginning to feel like something else. Something he might not want to be a part of. Was stepping out of the group an option though? Especially with how much Silas relied on him at times?
...
The speculatives followed their true nature, and successfully led Jaden into a pit of anxiety that he couldn't shake off.
