Back-up Plans

This story by EllisHendricks skilfully combines a delicately shifting relationship between Molly and Sherlock around the time of Rosie's christening seen through Mary's eyes and Mary's pondering on her past and its possible consequences in the future, which leads her to make a big decision.

We know what is going to happen later, but the story avoids recounting the incident and focuses instead on Mary's thinking and feeling, and Sherlock's and Molly's subtle and not so subtle behaviours. It is a lovely piece, in which everyone is so human.

So many of the most beautiful things in life are divine in their simplicity. The gospel, Presence, hope, plans, dreams, beauty, humor, good style, our favorite rhythms. In order to really see this kind of beauty I must be fully present and engaged in life right this second, only then can the glory of life and hope be enjoyed or even seen. My back-up plan, list of things to do, train of a million different things to think about...all must be thrown away. Life lived....right this second is so simply divine in its truest sense. Thor Heyerdahl said "Progress is mans ability to complicate simplicity." I think the progression of my life asks for this more and more...a progression of a new kind-back to simplicity. Since always, it's the simplicity of life and love that take my breath away.
