South Africa - Post #6 Garden Route
Last day on the Garden Route and, even though it had been so intense and a bit tiresome, it was sad to leave such a cool crew and our routine together: wake up early, have an awesome breakfast, drive a lot, arrive at a cool place for lunch, drive a little bit further, arrive at yet another stunning scenery somewhere and, at last, drive a lot again to find a cool hostel and finish the day with a nice dinner and some - or lots of - beers!
Cape Agulhas, Farmers Market and Hermanus: waking up to a cold and stormy morning, we had our breakfast and followed to visit the southest point in Africa, and also where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet: cape agulhas. Afterwards we witnessed something that everybody told us along the way: you can experience all the four seasons in one day in South Africa. Well, that’s true, as we were driving towards this awesome Farmers Market in Hermanus - a nice, upper-class city with a view - the day opened and the sun was shining nicely.
Wine Tasting: at La Vierge - that stands for Virgin, in French - Restaurant, everything is decorated according to the winery's main theme: the original sin. Even though it might sound a bit naughty, the reason for that - besides the obvious marketing appeal - is that they were the first ones to plant there on virgin soil. Nice wine, good cheese, and a fine view, what else can someone ask for?
Stone Point: on our way back to Cape Town we stopped at this African Penguins Sanctuary. It is a bit small but totally worth it, there are lots and lots of Penguins everywhere. and even though most of the part is restrict, so that you can't walk into the rookery, the scenery is awesome and these little fellas just walk everywhere, even outside the restricted area. I think I took around 400 hundred pictures in about 40 minutes there, just can't take these weird little guys walking around, they crack me up.
Fun Fact: Penguins mate for life and they can live almost 30 years!
Thanks a lot to Rochelle. our awesome, awesome guide! To the Reading family for being the coolest Aussies I've met and that guaranteed our fair share of laughter (and alcohol) everyday! And also to the nice german ladies that adventured with us!
After this intense week, I'll be staying in Cape Town for a week and then leave to Namibia for a 14 days camping trip.
Hope you guys enjoyed the pictures and see you soon!!!
