An interesting revelation from 4-Sided Dive

At some point I should probably flesh out Carver, my tiefling pirate’s cleric boyfriend.  Give him a personality beyond hot jon bernthal looking piece of ass who’s made promises and planned a future with Glory, even as he is devoted to the Broken God.

like, he starts out Bad News, but there’s got to be a heart of gold in there or else the moment, whatever it was, of being trusted and held out a hand to wouldn’t have worked.  Call him Carver because he’s very- *very*, good with a knife, to the point where Glory literally had him do his chest while they were in prison.  Carver was manifesting healing magic looong before he got paroled into serving at a local temple, ministering to his fellow inmates and having a private, intense relationship with his deity.  Holy in a hellhole. Maybe his gang was called something like the Butcher Boys, and he had a sort of Bill Cutting Gangs of New York style apprenticeship.  Somewhere in there he went from feral to slowly, carefully domesticating himself because someone showed him kindness- and he looked on his time in prison as a respite from the world, a way to calm down and reevaluate everything.  Ilmater came to him and taught him that suffering need not be passed on- indeed, that he could help reduce it rather than amplify it, if he chose.  It gave him peace in a way that no drink, drug, or deadly rampage ever could before.

I shall consult some 5e build guides- I want him to be the healiest healer, but with some kind of an edge.  He is absolutely capable of harnessing the bitchslap of god, as they say, and he’s based on the character of a crusader suffering massive ptsd.

I'm writing in a new journal, pretending to be [one of] my backup DND characters. It's fun to write like a child Kenku that's been accidentally adopted by a polygamist triad.

Also the amount of ✨trauma✨ that I can fit in their story is amazing. I usually make characters that start off without trauma and progressively get more trauma as they adventure, so starting off pre-traumatised is neat ^_^
