How about some monarch caterpillar feet for #ToeTuesday? As you watch these little ones climb you'll notice the first few set of feet (called true legs or thoracic legs) clasp the stem and the remaining feet (called prolegs or abdominal legs) act more like suction cups! Is that a hummingbird?! No! It’s a hawkmoth (family: Sphingidae). Flying mostly around dusk, the hawkmoth, these guys feed on the nectar from light-colored flowers (easier to see in the dark). Notice the flower on these plants aren’t purple! Those are modified leaves! Plants and insects are just cool!! #plants #insect #entomology #hawkmoth #sphingidae #bug #biology #backyardbiology

One of my Very Bad Cats brought me a stunned lizard. Me and my new lizard friend are going to spend a little time in the sun to see if we can recover. Any suggestions?
