Somehow they think this is a compliment? I had visible makeup in every photo and bright red lipstick in at least 3 💁 don’t tear girls down by comparing them to others, dickwad

Why do adults always think saying ‘wow you really aren’t just another pretty face’ is a compliment. Like I get told this all the time, and it never makes me feel good, it makes me feel like they thought I was stupid before I made a good point about something. And it doesn’t even need to be that good of a point, like someone will tell me this as long as I say something even the slightest bit intelligent and they hadn’t thought of it prior to me saying it. Like seriously, how many times do I have to be smart in front of you till you stop assuming that I am just pretty. Sorry for the rant, I’m just getting irritated with that saying. ❤️❤️❤️

Do Not Compliment My Vessel

There is so much more to me than superficial shit that cannot be helped.

“You are pretty”, “thou arts fair”

but there is no justice in such.

I’d rather be called brilliant than pretty;

compliment my heart and not my physique,

look me in the eyes and not down my shirt,

hold my body in your arms because it is the vessel of my soul.

Gaze into my eyes because of who’s home to stare back,

and kiss my forehead because it contains my biggest asset;

I do not care for comments on what I have little control over.

You say my body is fire but what about

the fiery words I speak when my eyes alight

with passion and purpose?

What about the lightness of my soul and freshness of my spirit,

quickness of my wit (or lack thereof, bad jokes are always funnier).

Comment on the happiness behind my smile and not the lovely lips that frame it.

I know who I am. Sometimes I wonder if you do.
