Tried to make a blouse from one of the Gertie sews books. Fucking rubbish. Written instructions don’t match the diagrams.
The adjustments section has you making adjustments off pattern measurements that she actually doesn’t include with the patterns (that I have seen included in many other indie pattern designers) including one book using the bust dart to help make a full bust adjustment when none of the patterns in that book even include a bust dart. I really tried to use the adjustments in the book since well they ought to be optimized for the patterns in the book
The sleeves are far too tight . I suspect it’s poorly grading for the larger sizes but I literally sew almost my entire wardrobe and this is the first time I’ve ever had tight sleeves. Also extremely odd is the blouse is too short. TOO SHORT. I am a smidge UNDER 5’0” tall
I had a few other patterns from the books I wanted to try out but this is just so bad. I won’t try another.
Again I am far from a novice seamstress. I’d put my skill level at advanced I tend to mostly sew more intermediate or lower patterns because I just don’t like dealing with fiddly stuff and prefer quicker projects but a basic blouse is well within my skill set
