Royce Da 5'9" - Layers (2016) Royces most recent studio album, Layers. One thing about Royce, he's always been very consistent lyrically throughout his whole career. He's had some Ups and downs on production and subject matter but rain or shine this guy can always rap. Layers is perfect until you get about half way through it. Track 10 to be exact. "Hello ". This was the first that that started to lose me. Then missed came up next and I didn't care much for it either. Fortunately track 12 is DOPE. It gets right back on track with that song. Unfortunately the album starts to lose me again towards the end though. I think if you cut 4 or 5 tracks out this would have been an even better album. Pretty much the entire first half is perfect, the second half is hit or miss. Number 6 on my #bestalbumsof2016 list is #Royceda59 "Layers" Shout out to my people @royceda59 and @denaunondos and team y'all delivered the goods on this one. Just when I thought rap had given up on the concept album these guys not only brings it back they set the bar super high. To be inspired by #hamiltonmusical and then produce a full audio album as a stage play about your life is incredible!!!! Start to finish. #Rap #badhalfentertainment
