It struck me though, that in cannon he takes it back and plants it right, which yeah, we always associate it with him remembering Thorin but it's a bit more on the nose than that. Why did it never occur to me that Bilbo takes back AN ACORN to plant an OAK TREE to remember THORIN OAKENSHEILD.
I was not okay once I realized that. Gonna need to hide for three to five business days.
