Continuing with the Proverbs 31 woman we pick up back at verse 22. When I first read that she made a Tapestry for herself I thought hmmm... was she decorating the walls or the floors. It turns out I was wrong on both accounts. The tapestry they are talking about in this verse is a bed spread, blanket, or coverlet. What also is not visible in the version of the Bible (except for the fact it doesn't say "a" in front of it) is that the word for blank "marbaddim" is plural... meaning she had enough resources and time to make multiple blankets. It can also represent other items that make the bed comfortable as well to lay on. Then we go on to the really exciting part of the verse! The woman was clothed in Fine linen, which at the time would be white in color, with purple accents which represents royalty in the Bible. We know that we are all call to be royal priest through Christ Jesus. The Bible states in the book of Revelation "And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.” Revelation‬ ‭5:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ It also states again in Revelation “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.” Revelation‬ ‭19:7-8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ So not only does her clothing foreshadow the royal priesthood it also is a foreshadowing of the bride of Christ the church itself! Now mind you it doesn't talk of purple in the bride of Christ but it does talk of the fine linens and how that represented the righteous acts of the believers of Jesus! Wow the #youngliving #sliquein60challenge went super fast! I am feeling great about what I have done so far and looking forward to the next challenge that starts on March 13th! I am not perfect...never will be but I feel good and I am treating my body as the Temple God created it to be! That is what matters to me! See God is doing a new thing in me not only in my body but in my spirit as well. I used to get frustrated that I had flappy skin from losing weight and that I would never be what some see as beautiful but I know I am treasured in the eyes of God! That is all I need! Here is the next verse in the Proverbs 31 study! I have to start off by saying that while playing in snow is all well and good... and I used to be a skier and even was on a ski team at one point... but I have a problem with snow. Snow to me is a nuisance and a danger for my husband who has to drive in it to work because his work doesn't believe in shutting down for snow ever. Though it is beautiful to look at when it is falling! I have know this verse was coming up for quite some time and really didn't know what I was going to say about it other then the fact that snow in the days of the Proverbs 31 woman would have been far more dangerous for her family because they didn't have electricity to heat their homes. Also doing tasks outside such has caring for animals would have been very difficult and for the Proverbs 31 woman in particular carrying for her vineyard during freezing temperatures would have been very difficult. When we read this verse in Proverbs in the Hebrew it says pretty much the same thing so I dug deeper into what was the scarlet garments they had that kept them warm. Some say that this is a foreshadowing of the blood of Jesus. It is true that the color red does represent that in some parts of the Bible. Historically red fabric was very expensive. It was made with a finer wool and usually made double thickness. That way it would stand up better and it would protect better. We know that the Proverbs 31 woman is well provided for for herself and her family with her business. She would have had the means to purchase the more expensive fabric so that they would be able to stay warmer. But you know what... it wasn't just for her family! It said for ALL her household! This meant that those who worked in her household also had garments to protect them and possibly that there were other cloth items in the home that helped to keep the inside of the home warm as well. How amazing is that! She would then have help to tend her animals, to protect her vineyard, and to keep everyone safe during the winter time. The Proverbs 31 Woman is generous! Not only is she strong, not only does she manage her household and her business, but she gives as well! When I was digging deep in to this verse it is pretty self explanatory but there were two types of extending of her "hand" and then "hands" so I wanted to dig a bit deeper to see why that could be! The first word used comes from the root which means palm of hand or sole of foot. In this instance it seem to be the palm of hand that she opens for the poor. The first word for poor is "ani" which in the strings translates as poor, afflicted, humble. So it could mean much more then poor. I could be like those who were sick or disabled as well. Historically the act of stretching out that hand and opening it to the palm would represent the giving of alms or money to those who needed it. The second word that said "needy" is translated as those in want or poor and the second word translated as "hands" literally translated as hands. So in this part the whole hands where stretched out. With booth hands stretched it seems to represent the giving of something more then alms such as food and goods. The Proverbs 31 Woman gave with out fear knowing that she had what she needed for herself, her family, and her business and gave from her abundance to those in need!
