Writing Kalluzeb Every Day for a Year - Day 6
(A little break from the other stuff)
Idea: (Zeb was pregnant on Bahryn)
Agent Kallus could not have heard that right.
"What do you mean you're pregnant!?" He wasn't proud of how his voiced pitched up at the question but honestly he was just that flabbergasted.
Zeb growled in frustration and rolled his eyes.
Kallus continued, spiraling. "And you fight like that? You fool lasat and you stupid rebels! How have we not beaten you yet when you make such reckless decisions?"
"Because we have every reason to fight and everything to gain. This," he gestured to his stomach, "makes me fight harder for what I know is right and the galaxy I want."
"That," Kallus pointed harshly, "makes you lot a bigger threat to yourselves than I thought. How can anyone allow this!? Do you have any idea what you idiots are doing? Allowing a pregnant person in the line the fire!? Do you even understand!?
"You'll be lucky to be captured now!" Kallus leant forward, brows scrunching in pain.
Zeb had been watching Kallus sharply since he started rambling. He'd meant to start shouting back, his anger building to a boiling point to lash out and let this arrogant imperial know exactly how hollow the Empire was for seeing pregnancy as a negative. Part of him was wishing he had just crushed the prick's head and been done with this, no matter how much a goof fighter he was. He'd been foolish to hold on to their rivalry.
Something in Kallus' pitch made him wait it out though. He'd only heard that high pitch when he was dragging the idiot out of the pod and he was scared, and now it seemed to be climbing.
"You stupid rebels, you have no hope of winning. You're 'friends' fled without you. You lot have no understanding of -" Kallus' eyes darted around, lost in some rapid fire thought process, "You will both die! Either here abandoned in this frozen moon or in a fight you will soon lose. And for what!?"
Kallus finally seemed to take a breath. He locked eyes with Zeb and lowered his voice, placating. "When the Empire comes, if you surrender, you will get a trial, you're condition will be taken into consideration, and you can both be safe."
Zeb leant in close to the agent's face. "You trying to protect me Kallus?"
There was a long pause before Kallus continued, trying again to be reasonable. "In the Empire, there is less chaos, less uncertainty of survival. For your child's sake and the future of your kind you should-"
"What do you care about my kind, Agent? You were on Lasan, remember? You gave the order," Zeb returned accusingly.
Kallus looked down and took a breath, seeming ready to say more, but remained silent. He shook his head.
(Sorry this isn't very good. I kinda ran out of steam and didn't know where else to take this. I may try it again later and start fresh. )
((I don't know who got Zeb pregnant and I don't really care. Not the point of the story. I wanted the argument to build Kallus into a worried fever pitch that Zeb notices and that's the start of seeing the agents softer side, what he believe about the Empire bringing peace/safety/order and the Rebels being 'callous'/chaotic with people lives. Basically:
Author: Hey KAllus, your crush is pregnant
Kallus: :Dad mode activate:))
