Delaware Bail Reform Law Now in the Hands Of Governor
A law which aims to do away with cash bail in the state has been passed. With a state Senate vote of 15-5, they approved the legislation and sent to the Governor who is expected to sign it into law.
The legislation is not meant to eliminate cash bail totally, but it would offer judges alternatives other conditions for pre-trial liberty, such as ankle monitors, regular check-ins, travel restrictions, among others.

A newly-developed risk assessment tool will enable judges to gauge the possibility of the defendant to skip bail. If the odds are high, it is still at the discretion of the judge to set the bail.
