Coming weekend the 2023 edition of the Dos Mares 500 desert offroad race being held with Dos Mares 500, is one of the most emblematic Off Road Racing races that take place in the Baja California Sur peninsula. 3 days of action of this spectacular offroad race, you do not want to miss. The mechanical review will be this 5. May from 16:00hr on at the La Paz boardwalk (Malecon).

The 2023 edition of the Dos Mares 500 off road desert race is planned to be held at 5., 6. and 7. of May 2023, La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Probably the most underrated desert race at the Baja peninsula.

Not much has changed since the last "advise" in March. Here for your convenience the post made by that organizer on Facebook. Attentive notice important information update March 2021: Derived from the situation that still prevails in the state of Baja California Sur due to the COVID 19 virus and according to the recommendations of the authorities, the Dos Mares 500 organization is forced to CANCEL the DOS MARES 500 event. This will lead us to prepare for the scheduled date of October 2021, the same race format that we will announce later as long as the authorities allow us.

We are deeply sorry as an organization for not being able to offer you a quality event as in every year on its traditional date, plus the current situation does not allow the authorities to offer us the possibility of making an event whatever their corresponding measures.

Atento aviso información importante actualización Marzo 2021: Derivado de la situación que aún prevalece en el estado de Baja California Sur por el virus COVID 19 y de acuerdo a las recomendaciones de las autoridades la organización Dos Mares 500 se ve obligada a CANCELAR el evento DOS MARES 500. Esto nos llevará a prepararnos para la fecha programada del mes de Octubre del 2021 mismo formato de carrera que les daremos a conocer más adelante siempre y cuando las autoridades nos lo permitan. Nos encontramos profundamente apenados como organización de no poder brindarles un evento de calidad como en todos los años en su fecha tradicional, más la situación actual no permite a las autoridades ofrecernos la posibilidad de hacer un evento cuáles sean sus medidas correspondientes.

Starting first as the fast qualifier for the race, Las Vegas’ champion desert racer Bryce Menzies never looked back as he raced through the Baja desert to win the Baja 250 / San Felipe 250. Chasing Menzies’ dust closely to the finish line were San Diego’s Luke McMillin and his cousin Andy McMillin, also from San Diego. o-tone Bryce Menzies, No. 7 (First overall, first in class. Bryce Menzies drove solo.): “We qualified P1 and started out front. It’s tough leading the whole race with those guys chasing you down. About race mile sixty, Andy (McMillin) flatted which let Luke (McMillin) by, and he made up that minute gap in between so the whole race he was only thirty seconds back, so I was pushing as hard as I could towards the finish. When I turned the corner on that last bit, it was really rough and I pushed as hard as I could, and turning that last corner they said I had twelve seconds on Luke. 280 miles and we were only separated by twelve seconds.

Unbelievable race. This course was the funnest race course I have ever been on in San Felipe – all the washes were amazing, so many spectators out there, I’m just so glad to be back in Baja.”
