what dev's been up to!
just wanted to share a bit with y’all as to why i've been a little slower with writing / fic updates and posting on a more concise schedule: i got an assistant baker position at a local cafe group's commercial kitchen! so my nights are early in order to get there early and bake some of the delicious things i've put under the cut. still adjusting to my new schedule tbh
it's been a dream come true and i am so thankful for the opportunity to do something i love and have a skill set for, it makes the past two years of jumping from bad job to bad job worth it ♡
Ok I’d like to do fun/cute hair stuff for work (I work in a bakery and my hair has to be up/back at all times) and I have a lot of thick hair what’s something fun I can do with it to add some whimsy but not be too much?
Sneaky peek into the day of a happy baker making bread ;) Flour, Water, Salt, time and passion, is all you need to make good bread (...you might want to get ...
The Time I Shut Down a Mansplainer Really Really Hard
Once upon a time, at my old job, we ended up hiring this dude from Alabama, who didn’t end up lasting very long there, for a number of reasons. Alabama’s general attitude towards my training him was as if he was doing me a giant favor by allowing me to teach him. He also said things like, “I’m good at machines, because I’m a man,” and once tried to walk behind the giant stove in the prep kitchen to look at the back of a slightly malfunctioning convection oven that was both plugged in and at least 375 degrees Fahrenheit. (Also, he was new to bakery work and had no idea how it worked.)
So at the end of one night, after several hours of loading bread into and peeling bread out of the oven, I had a knot in my shoulder and was trying to massage it out. Alabama saw me doing this and started to say, "if you've got a cramp, you should put some ice --"
I interrupted to inform him that I'm female; he didn't have to explain cramps to me.
His jaw dropped. He turned bright red and kinda stammered, “Did you really go there?”
My reply was, “Yes, are you done?” (Somehow I managed to maintain eye contact and not laugh when I said that.) And he was.
So I just finished my first week of work at the new bakery job. There's lots to learn but I'm trying my best to be quick on the uptake. My co-workers are all pretty wonderful so far. Though I'm sure not used to running around for 8 hours at a time anymore. My legs are killing me and my calf cramped so hard I screamed after work the other day. I'm good now, just sore and excited. I get to work a cake decorating shift instead of just counter on Tuesday! :D
Bring this back.
To work to work, I go, I go. Morning everyone. The stars are so pretty.
