I see that you make bread quiet a bit. What is your favorite bread to make? And also what is the most difficult bread you’ve made?

I do bake quite a bit! I'm going to include some pictures in this even though I'm a terrible photographer (and tbh most of these are just meant as quick shots to send to my mum).

Favourite is hard, because it depends on the situation and how I'm feeling at the moment. I do love my sandwich loaf that I usually make on Mondays for easy breakfast and lunch Mon-Wed/Thu

I don't make this as often but this pan de coco (recipe) is 🤤 Mine doesn't look as pretty as the recipe pictures but the taste is great!

And finally, I'll let this count since it is on a bread base. A good homemade pizza never fails!

As for most difficult... hmm maybe these medialunas (recipe)

The lamination isn't easy and I haven't mastered it, but I don't know anywhere that I would be able to buy these and that lemon+vanilla combination in the dough is just wonderful!

I like to bake for a number of reasons. One of the biggest being that it forces me to focus and lets me take back control from my anxiety. The other biggest reason is seeing people enjoying what you've created and how happy they are.

Baking Tips For The Literal Actual Beginner:

1) Baking powder and baking soda are two very different ingredients. if the recipe says baking powder, USE BAKING POWDER. and vise versa. One is not the substitute for the other.

2) Neither baking soda nor baking powder will usually ever exceed 1 teaspoon in a recipe. So if you think it says tablespoon/cup DOUBLE CHECK!! OR YOUR DESSERT COULD LITERALLY BE INEDIBLE.

3) Look for common themes in a recipe before choosing one. For example, a batch of 24 cupcakes will typically use a cup to maaaybe two cups of sugar, so if you see a recipe asking for 3-5 cups of sugar (which I have) either back off or have a doctor on standby

4) Avoid strange ingredients if you are a beginner. I sometimes find dessert recipes using paprika or chili powder or lime zest and really and truly I mean it when I say- leave that shit to the professionals

5) Check the calorie count if the recipe has it. I’m saying this because i once served a single serve 700 calorie brownie in a mug to my dad which although apparently tasted “okay” also “ate like a rock”. Just look at the calorie number as a heaviness level where around 100-200 is ideal. The less heavy a dessert is the more enjoyable it is.

6) If you want to get into baking as a hobby, seriously consider going to a dollar store to buy baking supplies like honestly the 3 x 4 cupcake trays at walmart are like 15+ dollars but the dollar store has all sizes of muffin trays for like 3 dollars. And they have those frosting decorating tubes. I don’t even think walmart has those.
