Bakugo absolutely refuses to let you into his room while he’s studying unless you promise to not distract him.
That afternoon, you were sitting sprawled on the floor at the foot of his bed, absentmindedly tracing your palms and enjoying having some company in the comfortable silence.
You snap out of your trance when your phone’s alarm blares from where it sits on top of Bakugo’s bed.
This was the fourth time that day that your phone had interrupted you with deafening calypso music. Each time, the description displayed across the screen made absolutely no sense.
You were woken up that morning by a vague ‘250ml.’
As you were doing your morning workout, the alarm simply said ‘750.’
‘500.’ while you made your lunch.
You had just ignored the alarms before, but you knew that letting it ring would get you kicked out of Bakugo’s room before you could defend yourself.
“Sorry, sorry,” you mutter as you clamber on top of the bed to shut your phone off.
This time, the screen read ‘950.’
You sit cross-legged on the covers and your voice comes out apologetic. “I’ve been getting these stupid alarms all day, and I don’t even know where they came from. I’ll just shut my phone down and delete them later, I guess.”
Bakugo’s pen freezes and he turns over his shoulder, crimson eyes burning with irritation.
You sigh with exasperation. “Yeah, yeah. I know, I’ll leave-”
“You dumbass, have you been ignoring those all day? Jesus, how stupid can you be?”
Upset by his words, you furrow your brow and frown. “Well, what the hell’s that s’posed to mean?”
He had fully given up on his studies. Not caring to hide his annoyance, Bakugo smacks his pen down and turns to face you fully.
“You were supposed to drink water with the alarm, you idiot. How could you not figure that out…there’s no way you’re seriously that dumb.”
You blink, his words stunning you into silence. You were still trying to form any sort of question when he sighs and rubs at the nape of his neck, trying to backtrack.
“I was getting sick of you coming to me complaining about getting headaches when it’s always because you’re never hydrated enough, so I gave you reminders, okay? Can you just...actually pay attention to them or something next time?”
Your eyes soften. He had taken the time to learn your schedule and was trying to keep you healthy, in his special- albeit confusing- way.
A smile creeps across your face as you uncross your legs and bounce to the edge of the bed, leaning in close toward the boy’s face.
“Y’know Suki, that’s pretty sweet. I never knew were so considerate.”
You try to stifle your laughter saying this, managing to let only a tiny puff of air escape your nostrils and brush the boy’s cheeks.
Bakugo’s eyes widen for a split second before his left hand slaps over his mouth, the other palming your face and shoving you back onto the bed as you finally burst out cackling.
He spins around in his seat and grits his teeth, ears still tinged pink.
“What the hell are you talking about, I was just trying to get you to stop bothering me. And I thought I told you to quit it with that stupid nickname, you sound like a fucking dumbass.”
Still giggling, you grab the nearest pillow and stick it under your leg. Looking at the back of the boy’s head, you decide you aren’t quite done teasing him yet.
“It certainly didn’t work very well because here I am- dehydrated in your presence, my liege,” you swoon dramatically.
“How couldst thou ever pardon thyself for taking advantage of the kindness bestowed upon me- a mere peasant in the face of royalty? I deserve naught but the cruel demise wrought upon me by dehydration and-”
“Holy shit, just take this and shut up or leave; I’m still trying to study, you dumbass.”
His back still turned to you, Bakugo’s hand is screwed into his hair- probably in an attempt to keep his temper. His opposite arm is slung across the back of the chair, outstretched.
Grasped in his hand is a black steel water bottle with a small inscription printed across the rim.
B. Katsuki. Plus Ultra! Go go!
Obviously a gift from a family member, you admire the bottle and gently lift it from Bakugo’s grip.
“Are..are you sure?” you pause, incredulous.
His mumbling is barely comprehensible under his breath.
“Whatever, as long as you keep quiet and fill it up when you’re done. Make sure to finish the whole thing before you leave.”
Ecstatic that you aren’t getting kicked out, you hum in agreement and clasp both of your hands around the bottle, settling into a corner of the bed.
You sip quietly and the two of you spend the rest of the afternoon in peaceful silence as you watch the blond boy working hard for his dream, a smile on your face.
