This is my father's hometown..
I wasn't raise here, but this is where I reconnected with my roots, with nature.
A place of legends where the gods reside.
Mt. Kabunian is found At the back of the rocky mountains on the left side of the village. Home of Duligen's fossilized remains.
According to legends, he took advantage of the "temengaw's" Kindness and stole its golden plate after he finished eating the food served to him. His action angered the "temengaw" And it mount him on the rock.
Nowadays, due to weathering and erosion, only a hole (which was once his penis) can be seen. Fresh water flows from it during the rainy season.
One of the mountains on the right side of the village is Mt. Tenglawan. Home of the god Insaking. A mischievous god who caused a lot of diseases in the olden days. He onced carried a boulder to the top of the mountain just to show off his strength. It's still there, a testament to his strength.
The top of the boulder is narrow, only 15 tightly packed people can fit on it. The view is breathtaking though.
The village itself is full of stories about the unseen. A lot of which are experienced by the villagers but seem made-up to the outsiders. Here, the ghosts don't usually harm the people, they just play tricks on them.
We seldom visit, but when we do, my heart is full.
