Do you ever just think about how utterly devastating it must've been for Alibaba to finally sneak out of his palace prison, reunite with Kassim, and then learn that very same night that his baby sister Mariam had died 3 years earlier and he just didn't fucking know. And he never gets to own any of her things. He has no physical reminders of her existence. Just old memories and the knowledge that he wasn't there in her final moments, churning 'what if's' over and over in his brain, caught up only in the ways he feels he must've failed her
Ohtaka just dropping everything to do with Balbadd after that arc hurts me so badly because there's so many plot threads left abandoned for him. Where is his rage. His grief. Why does he never speak about Mariam or Anise and barely ever of Kassim. I will never stop creating backstory HC's about Mariam specifically she was so young and innocent when she died
