Scenes from the trail...
Out for a short hike locally. This trail runs along the hillside high above Loch Ness from Balchraggan to Corriefoyness. It starts in ancient Caledonian forest managed by the Woodland Trust and then picks up the old coffin trail to climb to Corrifoyness. Legend has it theat Bonnie Prince Charlie took refuge here after his defeat at the battle of Culloden. He and his few beleagured, but loyal men refreshed themselves from the natural spring and were able to hide long enough to evade the merciless English soldiers hunting them. They continued their journey along the Great Glen Way and ultimately to Skye, where the Bonnie Prince made good his escape with Flora MacDonald.
