I have acquired another Odile Barbie! She is seriously GORGEOUS. I also put her hair down (but still need to flatten it out). Might rebody her because I can't do much with the Ballet Feet.
Hi everybody my Mum and I had a great time seeing Swan Lake for the first time at the London Coliseum. It was enchanting. I couldn’t resist bringing a doll with me. I chose Swan Queen Barbie who is my most recent doll restoration project. I hope that you like my photos.
Image Description
Photo 1: a photo of a Barbie doll dressed in a white tutu decorated with feathers and sequins standing up against a programme for the State Ballet of Georgia’s production of Swan Lake with a photo of a ballerina on the cover.
Photo 2: a photo of the aforementioned doll dancing with the programme opened in the background with a photo of ballerinas dancing in the background.
In 2004, Mattel produced a Silver Label collectors edition Barbie as Titania from A Midsummer Night's Dream - specifically the ballet, rather than the Shakespeare play.
Barbie's traditionally pointed toes to fit into a variety of high heels are even more sharply on display here, as Titania is portrayed as being en pointe in her ballet shoes.
This particular doll was also released as a Hallmark ornament. Note that this is not another version of Titania - this is specifically Barbie as Titania.
This same series featured Barbie as Juliet from Romeo and Juliet - again, the ballet.
This is specifically as distinct from the other tie-in Barbie for Romeo and Juliet, which features both a Barbie and a Ken.
I couldn't find a clear answer on how many Titania or Juliet ballet Barbies were released, but as Silver Label collectors items, the number would have been capped at no more than 50,000.

I have never verified this but a part of me wonders if there have been more ballet Barbies than any other genre of Barbie.
Obviously there was the Barbie Nutcracker movie which had a whole host of tie-in dolls - both at the time of the movie's release, and in callbacks to the line over time. After all, it was the first Barbie animated movie and there's plenty of material there to refine and rerelease.
In addition to the Nutcracker Barbies, there have been a number of Barbies depicting characters in other ballets, including Romeo & Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream as well as other famous ballets like Swan Lake.
But more generally, there have been a great number of Barbies simply identified by variations on "Ballerina" - Ballerina, Ballet Star, Ballet Wishes, Fairytale Ballerina, and so on. To my knowledge the first of these was in 1961, but variations on the line continue into the present day.
Most of these - especially the playline dolls - have been very basic doll releases containing just the doll in costume without a great deal of additional accessories or props,
Probably the one with the most interesting props, to my mind, is Barbie Ballet Instructor, in which Barbie is the dance teacher and her child pupils are able to perform on a working dance stage.
I do find it quite a cute little design.
Another strong contender in a similar line would be I Can Be: Ballet Teacher, also featuring Barbie as the teacher with a Kelly/Chelsea-aged doll as her student.
And of course, it would be remiss to talk about this without acknowledging the Barbie Ballet Studio and Stage Set.
This post feels really long and yet I've not even talked about a fraction of the ballerina Barbies and other ballet-themed playsets there are in the Barbie world. You can see what I mean when I say that I think ballet may just be the most prolific career or theme Barbie has.
(This post is for @plasticoctopus as a belated birthday present!)
So 2 things. First, I flattened out the hair on my 2025 Ballet Wishes Barbie. It's not as flat as i'd want it to be yet but it's a million times batter than what it was before.
Second, I swapped her lower legs! The lower legs on the Barbie movie dolls Fit and are a skin tone match. Used Perfect Day Barbie's Legs. You can just heat 'em up and pop them off, but I just brute forced it without heat.
I had a barbie with this body when I was a kid. I took dance lessons so she was like my absolute favorite! Sadly her head broke off in a way the broke her neck and I had to throw her away. Well I just got this barbie for a pretty decent price I think! She probably won't keep her head but I'm just so happy to have a doll I was really missed back!
