I enjoyed a beautiful weekend of balloons at Red Rock Balloon Rally in Gallup. They had to cancel mass ascension on Sunday due to canyon winds. Friday and Saturday were glorious and the weather couldn't have been better. Balloons and bluebird skies.
The Spiedie Fest is this weekend!
I am beyond excited! I haven’t been since I was in high school, and even then it sucked because I went to help a friends family in their tent and wasn’t allowed more than a few minutes of roaming time.
This year my dad was given two Gold passes and a gold parking pass(on-site parking which I didn’t know existed) and he gave them to me because he and mom can’t go. These get us into like everything!
Tomorrow is the first day and Joan Jett is performing! I am going with my bff and hopefully meeting up with two of our friends! Ah I can’t wait!!
I realize I haven’t explained what this is. Where I live, we have this fantastic food that is called the spiedie. It is cubed meat, usually pork or chicken that is marinated in special sauce and served usually as a sub or on a kebab. It is mouth watering and not many people out of this area knows what it is. Spiedies have been celebrated at the Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally in Binghamton, New York every August since 1983. The annual event includes a spiedie cook-off in search of the best spiedie recipes. Pretty much it started as a spiedie cook off and evolved from there. Now the festival is three days and consists not only of the cook off, but vendors, concerts, rides, meet and greet, several hot air balloon launches and much more! It is such a huge thing for our area, people come from all over the country every year; it is expected that 100k people will attend this year!
This is the perfect time of year for Aaron to be in Albuquerque because the hot air balloon rally is going on and it's just beautiful. It's also the worst time of year to be shooting a horror movie in Albuquerque because you know.... The balloon rally....
