“Back again, already?” You ask, looking at the man in front of you.

You had been working at a coffee shop for a few weeks now, each week becoming less and less exciting than the last. Then again, no job is ever fun. Especially when you have had the same customer come in at the same time everyday, ordering the same long order that took fifteen minutes at least to make. The worst part is, he was always ignoring you, on his phone with his friends or his coworkers or whoever is making him order so many drinks. He never looked you in the eyes, never spoke more than a few words to you, always avoiding any type of contact with you whatsoever.

He told you the first time that his name was Kunpimook, and you spelt it wrong the first time, but he didn’t seem to mind. He knew his name was fairly difficult to both pronounce and spell if you didn’t know it, so he didn’t seem to mind when you wrote “Cunempuke” on his cup.

But then, it began to become a game, as he came back more and more each week, ordering the same order.

Throughout the weeks you had been working, he’s said maybe four sentences to you, all of them actually trying to hit on you. Which shocked you, to say the very least, as he seemed very uninterested in anything that you were doing, just wanting his drink as soon as possible.

“qun im Poop”

“Cookie Put”

“Curley Boom”

you had found many words that sounded like his name, all sounding weirder and wronger than the last. You knew how to spell his name truthfully, but you wanted to see how much time it would take for him to confront you about it.

And then today, it happened.

“Uh, excuse me?”  he asked over the counter, minutes after you had handed him his drink.

“Yes, sir, is there something wrong with your drink?”

“What—, what is this?” he asked softly, turning the cup to you.

“Kun-make-me-puke”

“This, this is a new one.” He chuckled, shaking his head at you.

“Like it? I thought of it the last time you were here and i was saving it.”

“But, why do you… Why do you always spell my name wrong? I’m sure you know how to spell it by now.”

You looked at him softly, shrugging as you took a notepad out from your apron.

“Because, you’re always ignoring me. And you seem like a nice person, so I wanted to see if i could get your attention so I could have a conversation with you.”

“Ah, so you’re playing these little highschool games with my name because you have a crush on me?” He smirked at you softly.

“Sir, not to impose, but i’m positive you’re not that much older than i am. And I don’t have a crush on you, I simply wanted to have a conversation with you.”

“Ah, but now you’re realizing now that the more you look into my big brown eyes, the more you’re falling in love with me, right?”

“Ha, you wish, Kunpimook.”
