It looks a bit rough from outside, but Macy's is doing just fine at the Lehigh Valley Mall. This department store was originally a Bamberger's, which was already a subsidiary of R.H. Macy Co. at the time that the mall opened. The whole Bamberger's chain was rebranded as Macy's in 1986, 10 years after LVM opened

“The Green” in Morristown, New Jersey, circa 1950.  That Bambergers on the corner was one of NJ’s “upscale” department stores back in the day; it was bought out by Macy’s in the 1980s. The store is now a Century 21; the rest of the block is entirely different now, as is the view.  Morristown is much more “city” now than it was in the time of this quaint little view.
