Recently a lovely buddy of mine over on IG told me Lysander reminded her of Bambi's dad and I pretty much ascended for a second 🙈 He was one of the inspirations behind Mr. Hatherwood INDEED AHH 🥹❤️
And so I was like huh.. why not sketch Lysander with some of the Great Prince's expressions as refs? 🦌🤎✨ (and how could I possibly resist watching one of my most beloved comfort movies ever for like the millionth time again while on the hunt for said expressions 🤲🏻💕)
Bit of lazier shading this time around hehe this was purely a quick self indulgent thing for a few extra ounces of serotonin 🙈💖✨
I also must say that I keep forgetting Lysander's got a few gray hairs, shame on me, but not this time! ✨ My poor lad ☹️ there's been far too much stress in his years, he just cannot catch a break ❤️🩹

The Great Prince is the biggest and oldest surviving deer in the forest, and as such walks with a great amount of pride. While he was quite like his son Bambi in his youth, he grew into a highly dignified and sophisticated stag. At first, he firmly stood by his beliefs such as leaving the past in the past, and that it is not the job of bucks to look after fawns, but rather it's best to leave it to the does. But after the death of Bambi's mother, he finds himself doing his best to care for him, and grows more emotionally open as well, willing to talk about his late wife with his son.
Eventually, the Great Prince passes on his title to his son, and retires peacefully.

For a lil' change of pace for this blog, I wanted to showcase some o' my Bambi art! (I swear I'm still normal about the movies, the essay I wrote months ago is a testament to that)
Anyway! The first two are from sometime between 2021 and 2023, the next two are actually 2023/2024 remakes of 2020 illustrations (which I couldn't find the original files for X_X) and the last is from 2024 :3
Hopefully I'll get to share more o' these sketches in the future

February 7, 2006: Disney's Bambi II (2006) is released on DVD and VHS.
This is the last Disney film to be regularly released on VHS as future releases on the format would be sold exclusively on the Disney Movie Club website.
