i'm probably extremely late to this but it still drive me wild that actual people in our government are unironically calling a dialect of bangla that is spoken across west bengal 'bangladeshi' because it is also spoken across the border and using it to justify their islamophobia and xenophobia. ik it might be hard to imagine but partition did not mean that people decided to split our shared history into neat little boxes of 'indian bengali' and 'bangladeshi bengali'. at the end of the day we are still the same culture with an arbitrarily drawn border between us. for fuck's sake i lived winthin/next to a primarily muslim neighbourhood (we had like 3 separate masjids in different alleyways of the same fucking intersection) and the people spoke the exact same bangla that idiots in our government who have never set one foot in bengal are calling 'bangladeshi'. BANGLADESHI IS NOT A LANGUAGE NOR EVEN A DIALECT ALL OF IT IS JUST BANGLA!!!
Yk I have no problem against white people using mehendi im just concerned that why do they always peel it off the fucking second it dries and then complain about it not being dark enough??? If you’re going to use mehendi then maybe use it the right fucking way??? Keep it on for at least 6 hours, but preferably 12 hours to overnight and then slather the area with shorshe or mustard oil when you’re done and finally peel it off for the darkest colour.
I remember comparing the Bengal famine and the genocide in Gaza in fucking 2023 and no one believed me then but now that palestine has actually been classified as being in phase 5 of starvation and you can see fucking children with their rib cages practically exposed from hunger have people started acknowledging what is having in Gaza is man made. I commented this on another post but I think it deserves its own post as well but I hate how Bengali people as whole are so fucking obsessed with trying to prove that their version of Bengali is the best. Like Indian Bengalis think they’re superior because we speak ‘shudho bangla’ while people on the Bangladeshi side of the border tend to speak dialects with more Arabic or Urdu influence and it sucks because it’s just separate linguistic development and movements and both forms of the language are valid while on the Bangladeshi side of the border I’ve seen so many people claim that Indian Bengalis shouldn’t actually be considered Bengalis because we didn’t fight to be able to speak our language like the Bangladeshi people did and for some reason that means we have a lesser right to it then they do and it’s like, babe that not how languages work??? And also ignores that many Indian Bengalis are Bangladeshi immigrants??? Whose families very much did fight in ekushey february and the liberation war??? Like what is you on about??? Bengali on Bengali hate worst thing in the world
