Checkout this restoration on a vintage circa 1970's Aoyama banjo. The first step is to align the headstock to the correct string angle and then glue it flush with a glue my Father (Dr. Phil Petillo) created and taught me how to make. The original inlay work was special to my client and he didn't want me to re-create it, so I masked off the inlay/logo to blackened up to the inlay with a reverse front headstock stinger and wrap it around to create a back headstock stinger.
Working on pairing up a really cool old double spun Dobson rim with a short scale Doug Unger neck. This neck has some of my favorite carving work from Doug I’ve seen. It’s not as elaborate as he can get but something about it really speaks to me. We upgraded it with some custom @robsontuners as well. Had a great time working on a cool old Bacon internal resonator banjo yesterday with Michael Ricciarelli.
