shower thought for a mini-quest line in louise hill as part of the dailies grind

old farmhand asks you to help someone else and when you turn it in, gives you the option of revealing that you’ve helped calbet (which loses affection)

calbet gives you the option of insulting his hair when he gives you the hairstyle quest (which loses affection)

so what if old farmhand asks you to “quest once”. then you go and you insult calbet’s hair. and then you have the option of telling farmhand that you hurt calbet’s feelings.

even though the old man and the kid have a rivalry going on, i don’t think they HATE each other. so what if instead of losing affection because you helped calbet, you lost affection because you bullied him? maybe lost even MORE than the normal option?

i think that’d be a good message. “no rewards for hurting a 12 yo.” but also, it would show that farmhand DOES care about calbet ... even if he’s a little obnoxious cabbage head.

(and yes i know negative affection is also “rewarded” but let me have this ok)

these are effectively IDs 420 and 666 because the actual 420, 1420, 666, and 1666 are the untradeable account-locked turniplings

DAPPERVOLK CYOA!

INTRODUCTION

Hi, my name is BANNED and this is an interactive, community-fueled Choose Your Adventure (CYOA) focused on "you", the collective identity of everyone playing, and "your" adventure through a world very similar to, but not quite the same as Dappervolk. The main difference between the world that this story takes place in and our beloved game site is the fact that danger is present. Much like any good Dungeons and Dragons fantasy realm, there is gold, glory, and a gravestone waiting around every turn.

HOW THIS WORKS

Every other day, I will write a chunk of fiction for your viewing pleasure. At the end of each post, there will be a poll where you can vote on how the story should proceed, which will be open for a full day so that everybody gets a chance to read and respond no matter their timezone. Much like Mass Effect, Infamous, or any Tell Tale Game, there will be multiple options for how the story can proceed. Will the main character be friendly? Confrontational? Timid? It's up to you all! All decisions confronted in this story will facilitated by me and decided by you.

RULES

Vote only once per poll. Majority rules for all decisions. Please don't be upset if the option you wanted isn't chosen, and please don't try to skew the results.

Keep all commentary PG-13. This story can and probably will contain violence, but I will not be providing excessive descriptions of injuries. Any romance included in the story will not go any further than acceptable PDA.

Be polite. I want this to be a civil gathering where we can all enjoy a story together, so please keep this space positive. If you have critiques of my writing or characterizations, please contact me privately instead of posting them here, be sure your comments are constructive, and remember that I'm doing this for fun.
