Real talk...
I’m multifandom. Have been for a decent amount of time. I became a Kpop fan in late 2014...August to be suuuper exact. I was really overwhelmed and navigated the Kpop world totally blind. SHINee and EXO were my first groups, but when B.A.P came into my life I dove in head first. Now, if you’re with me, you’ll know that August 2014 was not a great time to get into B.A.P all of a sudden because a few months later they filed their lawsuit....And Yeah...That SUCKED. I had watched EVERYTHING. And I mean everything...ALL of the music videos, live stages, MV Making of, interviews...And yes...Even TA-DAH! It’s BAP. When the news hit I was just so devastated. I didn’t give up, though. I stuck with the boys with every social media update. I was still a new fan though, so I didn’t even know where to begin when it came to fansites. Because of that, I didn’t see the response from fans who left the fandom (though from what I understand, there were a lot of people who gave up on them). During their hiatus I listened to mostly EXO, with a few others here and there. As one of my first groups, I can’t help but follow them, even now. There’s a lot of nostalgia and memories balled up in those fluffballs. I almost cried when the news broke that B.A.P was coming back. I was confused about their return to TS, but I, like many others, decided to trust the boys. I remember exactly where I was when I found out and I remember exactly what I was doing. It was some of the best news I’d gotten in a while. I still get chills watching the teasers and promo to Matrix. But there was just something lacking. Young, Wild, & Free was a pretty hyped song, but it was the only comeback they had at the time. That was a while ago now...And I’ve seen the steady decline in fans. There’s no denying it. And yes, a lot of it is TS’ fault. But what I really wanted to get at in this post, is this: Watching your favorite group rise from the ashes, only to be repeatedly ignored is absolutely heartbreaking. They do better than a few groups and it’s not that they’re completely tossed aside. But they deserve so much more than what they have right now. And it hurts a little to see other groups I follow gain successes where B.A.P doesn’t. It’s sometimes hard being multifandom for those reasons. I wish B.A.P all of the happiness in the world. I hope 2018 is their year. And I hope they can come back stronger than before. I love a lot of groups, but I can’t love a group more than B.A.P. We went to hell and back together and there’s no giving up now.
