Bar!Siders Concepts:

I've been hammering away all day at this between getting my car fixed and doing laundry. It's just a bunch of outfits that the horsemen could wear in the Bar!Siders AU I made.

I'm still pretty up in the air for which ones to pick although I have a few I've been favoring.

War:

I feel like War would be more of a tie sorta guy, and I feel he would lean more towards sleeveless (the whole arm thing, which I will design later (despite mechanical things being hard for me)).

Death:

Death feels very flashy, especially since his outfits in game are on the customizable side. I think if he had coattails that they'd either be really pristine or tattered all to hell (like his cloaks in the game). I really like his corset-sleeve combo from the game though, so I may lean into that for a final design.

Strife:

Laid back and fun. I picked yellow for him because anxiety and fun are often associated with this color. Mix it with orange for a little bit of passion, and you've got Strife! I think I'll gun for something casual and fun. More laid back of sorts, but similar to Death because under their exteriors, they're more similar in their goals and feelings than they think.

Fury:

Now, she was a tough one. I think I want to lean into masculinity with her and give her something with sleeves. I may even swap to a tie instead of a bowtie. I also think it'd be funny if she had the most clothing out of all of her brothers lol.

Altogether, I had a great time playing with these! And all the colors and textures are going to be SO MUCH FUN!!! (satin is my favorite texture to paint).

I also thought of theming them after the four card suits based on vibes (war: hearts, strife: diamonds, death: spades, fury, clubs). I'm just looking for ways to tie all the elements of each horsemen to each other. Maybe Strife and War wear a vest, War and Fury wear ties, Death and Fury have more ornate designs, Strife and Death share a low waist, etc.

Bunny Death Cool Down:

I just wanted to do a cool down sketch before hopping into bed. It's quick and messy and the lines are super chunky (which I love).

I used to do a juicy style like this all the time in Sai, but I found an oil brush in Clip that does the job perfectly!

Bunny Death Update:

AH HA!!! I HAVE NAILED THE DEATH CORSET DESIGN!!!

At first it was too complex and I was doing too much. All the refs were simple, but I wasn't seeming to get that. Then I thought to myself "just reduce the brush size and see how it goes". Everything was chunky at first, but then it all started to make sense, like a switch flipped! Now I just need to refine everything and polish it up and I will be able to draw it all out with some sketches!

I don't usually do complex designs, so I went back to basics with minimal colors and ideas. I did manage to include some of the refs I wanted though, which I'm very happy with.

I don't think I'm going to do any full stark white stuff for him (or the others. Unsure). Stark white is just too harsh of a contrast, and when placed next to the right colors, any color can read like a different one.

All in all, I will continue working on this, and then take a break to render some of that pinup depending.

Bar!Siders AU:

So, I found a free stock image from Adobe, and I love playboy bunnies as a character costume. Seems the AU ran away with me lol!

Bar's called Sam's Lounge. The horsemen are all waiters and bartenders in bunny outfits. Dis is the head bartender. Vulgrim does the books. Samael is the owner. Lucifer is a rival bar across the street and Lilith is the madame of the house/face/"owner" of his establishment. The horsemen used to work over there but left due to bad treatment despite the pay. it's not great at Sam's either, but the treatment is better although the pay suffers some. They're all siblings by blood. Death is the only one allowed behind the bar to make the drinks as he is responsible with the alcohol. Fury whereas is banned right along with strife. War can go back there too, he just hates doing it because it's too delicate (although his mixing skills are right up there with Death's, but he's not as adventurous as to make new drinks like him).

Outfit colors: Death - dark purple/dark green War - red/pink Fury - cyan/(some other undecided color) Strife - yellow/orange

(All of them have a black suit and a white suit as the standard uniform.)

I could do more (and I will), but I wanted to get this out there while I had the energy tonight. (Work was p long and tiresome lol) So far this is just a sketch and I may do more with concepts of the horsemen in their bunny outfits in stand alone images tomorrow, sorta like ref pages. We'll see how I'm feeling and how much time I have.

I have made SO MUCH progress!!!!

It's coming along way better than I expected, and I am thrilled I'm so close to finishing a piece. I think I may do another pass of lines with that smoother brush I mentioned earlier, but so far, I like it.

When I do that pass, I plan on upping the DPI and doing a bigger canvas. Not 100%, but it's looking likely.

I do have a massive headache coming on, but I wanted to share this before I tapped out.

Can you tell us more about Barsiders? What's Samael supposed to look like? And is this an x reader type of story? If so, what's their role in all this?

Ngl, I never really thought about Sameal's appearance, but then this question popped up and I had to do something for him.

I sorta feel like a lot of the demon characters would try to masquerade as "human", or rather toned down versions of themselves (save for Vulgrim. He works behind the scenes so there's not much of a need to hide).

When I think of Samael as a human I defo think of characters like Ganon (LoZ) and Jet (Cowboy Bebop): jagged hairline, good beard, heavy eyebrows. He himself has those features (minus the hair), so I wanted to push on those.

To prep, I did a draw over of his features from the game model. Then I went over and added the human features. This is just to see where my landmarks are at.

From there I draw it again without the model and look at what I put over top. This helps to separate and gain confidence for the design. (Sometimes I even return back to it at a later date and draw it from memory to keep prominent features. Helps to concentrate a character design in my opinion.)

That got me this:

I feel like he's a pretty cutthroat business man who wears a nice suit and has well-maintained everything.

I'd like to think of this as an xReader type of story. Sort of like Reader ends up in some dirty dealings due to debt and has to resolve it by working in Hell, which tosses them into the middle of a bar turf war or something. Maybe they bond with Dis over a shared debt to Vulgrim, and it ends up as an Ouran Highschool Host Club type deal (can you tell I've been watching a ton of anime lately lol?). They have to work off the debt somehow and end up doing that by working at the bar. Maybe they catch the eye of the horsemen, or maybe they make a name for themselves as one of the best at the bar as either a bartender or waitstaff or even as a singer or bouncer! Maybe they work the front of house and everyone flirts with them. It all depends on what you want to do with it; The possibilities are endless!

Either way, I'd like to think that anyone can get in on this. I remember seeing someone ask if they could draw things for this AU, and the answer is totally yes! Feel free to have fun with it! Credit me if you like, or don't. I don't mind either way as I'm just looking to have fun with this.

I'm glad you all seem to like it though! I may write some blurbs about it later, or when I'm working. It'll give me something to do.

Barsiders AU has a new sub AU that is themed like Street Fighter because of the turf war between Samael's bar and Lucifer's.

Funnily enough there's a Street Fighter type game called Darkstalkers and they have a guy who reminds me of Death. His name is Lord Raptor and he's what helped push me to draw Death more a while back.

Hello! No, nothing terrible has befallen me. There's just been so many changes happening in the last few months.

The biggest thing that happened was getting my own place. So far it's nice! I haven't had a lot of contact with my family since moving out (for good reasons, I assure you), and I am just focusing on bettering my life and getting it together.

I did just get internet not but an hour or so before posting this, and having internet allows me to use Clip Studio Paint (because apparently you can't use it without internet?? which is dumb imo), so now I can actually save the work I make.

I have it on my iPad, but I can't draw at work so much anymore because I want to pursue more suggestive works and that's a no-go when you have a camera behind you while you work at a desk.

I also have more responsibilities at work now since my last review, which is very much a good thing!

All of this to say, I am still here, just taking longer to make better looking and more involved art. I even picked up coding so I could work on using Ren'py for reasons unbeknownst you .... 👀👀👀

I hope the rest of you all are doing well though!
