This made me realise that I could use the word balloon oval then draw the tail manually instead of having to use the balloon pen on it all, so no more scuffed wonky speech bubbles.

another one for pat plus a character of your choice with the prompt “they’re just a kid"
“How’s Mike taking it?” Barb asked quietly. It was fully dark out, even at only nine. Somehow, that seemed terribly wrong. She’d been used to the constant twilight of living in LA, and then the late sunsets of summer. “Losing the…I’m sorry, what did you call it?” “The Thunderbolt,” Pat said, unfolding the pajamas he’d put under his pillow just that morning. “He’s… well, he’s not too happy about it.” Barb winced. She could still see the look on Mike’s face, more shock than anything else. Shock and resignation. “Does it make me a bad person to say I’m glad?” Pat asked. “No,” Barb answered automatically. “Nothing could make you a bad person, Pat. And I’m sure..you’re not glad he’s unhappy, you just want to keep him out of…everything. Right?” “I do. He’s just a kid. My kid. Our kid. And I know, Courtney…Sylvester…they were just kids too, but…” “But fifteen’s different than thirteen.” Barb sighed. “I can’t say I wish none of this had ever happened. God knows if anyone would have stopped Jordan, without the kids. But I wish it hadn’t been necessary.” “Believe me, I know,” Pat said, sitting on the edge of their bed. “If I could have used the staff--or that pen--myself, to keep them out of danger, I would. In a heartbeat. But if Eclipso’s out there…This is going to get worse before it gets better, Barb. And Mike… I just wanted to keep him safe a little longer. He’s gotta understand that, right?” “I’m sure he does,” Barb agreed, though she wasn’t as certain as she’d have liked to be. Sometimes, saying things made them seem true. Tonight, it just felt hollow. Their children were in danger. Pat had his robot, and his secrets, and she had…well. She had them.
