I'm SO SAD about stargirl ending and I've only ever been a casual fan (big fanatic of hournite tho!) I love the show as a whole and want it to continue. do u think if all of us continue streaming it in the background, we could get the show picked up elsewhere? lol just wishful thinking, the denial is real!!
I know it all feels futile. The thing is, it’s not. The best bet of saving Stargirl is to have HBO Max reconsider declining the s4 pitch. When Johns/the other execs pitched Stargirl s4 to HBO Max way back in the Spring, likely April or May, nobody was watching Stargirl on the streaming platforms and there was virtually no promo that would incite new viewers. Naturally, they looked at our hiatus numbers and said no. But there are opportunities for that to change if we mobilize the fandom to get HBO Max’s attention. Yes, watch live and stream the show (especially on HBO Max but also Amazon Prime etc internationally wherever you get it) while we still have the last 3 episodes to air, but these next few things are the most important:
1. Watch the finale. Ask your family and friends to turn on their tv to tune in to the Stargirl s3 finale—Seriously. If we can hit a million viewers for the finale, it shows them that a lot of people were and are interested in the story. Ending with the highest ratings we can will look good
2. Watch Titan’s “Where is my Gar” — The Titans/Stargirl crossover is an important week to tune in to, it’ll show HBO Max that people care about Courtney — And use that week to stream Stargirl seasons 1-3. It will be expected that new fans who are interested in Courtney and will only be introduced to her in this crossover will check out Stargirl, thus bumping the # of viewers for the show and we should help add to those numbers by doing the same.
3. Get loud about the show on social media. A lot of people watch this show but our online presence is sleepy. While the fandom can try as much as we can to get James Gunn’s/HBO Max’s attention to save Stargirl, there is really only so much we can do. We’re not execs who can make these pitches. But if we really buckle down on our discontent about Stargirl being cancelled by talking about what we WOULD want for a season 4, we could hopefully rally enough attention to get some cast on board a save campaign again. It’s just not going to happen without efforts on both sides.
my christmas list:
- stargirl season four
that's it.
Is it wrong thinking of me to think a petition to save Stargirl would work better than begging James Gunn to put the show back on the air?
I joined a the 'Official' Stargirl Facebook group and tried to share the link to the petition.. but apparently petition are played out and rarely work.. like I've looked it up and some petitions to get canceled shows Un-canceled have work in the past. Idk why we can't give every option a shot, before begging some dude that was literally fired for making gross jokes.
I even suggested we write letters to the studio, but no, that's too much work.
I'm just annoyed. I really like Stargirl, the film quality is like watching a movie, the character are all really good. I want the story to continue.
I just think showing the show as support such as a petition, a hastag, or even writing letters to the studio would do more good in the long run rather then message James Gunn and asking him to put the show back on.
Renew Stargirl For a season 4
Stargirl 3x12, "Frenemies - Chapter Twelve: The Last Will and Testament of Sylvester Pemberton," elevates the season's murder mystery.
Stargirl’s mind-boggling penultimate episode has BIG twists and turns that make me wish the members of the JSA had more time to shine. And maybe they will if #SaveStargirl works.
Here's my DC's Stargirl review for Fangirlish! And if you have a second and like my review, any engagement on Twitter is helpful.
Why I'm sad to see Stargirl go
So Stargirl is apparently the next to be cancelled and man his one hits hard for me because, it's really good. Like really fucking good a a superhero show. Even leaving aside the circumstances that lead to the characters creation initially and knowing about that (It's worth looking up). Stargirl as a show felt like something special in terms of superhero shows. This was a hero who realistically has always been at best bottom of the B list and usually sort of C-list but the show for me was made so well with such heart and such well done craft that this felt like a better show than most others.
This is a show where they really pushed boundaries. I mean it's a show where teen characters were killed by the villains or became killers.
It was a show that was structured to make even C tier villains the Sportsmaster seem legitimately threatening and had villains who just showed that no matter how virtuous a the intention it's entirely possible to be villous in how you achieve those intended ends.
It's a show that too the "Sinister small town Americana" trope and subverted it by having sinister stuff go on but it wasn't the town all in on it.
It was a show that had villains who had moment where they were easily more evil than Marvel's Thanos and then did the seeming impossible and made you feel sorry for said villains and just want to give them a hug.
I'm a grown ass dude who really enjoys the Zack Snyder DC films and likely way off the target audience for this show but I watched it and loved it because it was a hopeful show that was brave enough to stand up for values such as freedom and the belief that people can be reasoned with and aren't irredeemable and deserve death for not falling in line with certain ideas.
Stargirl really did punch well above it's weight as a show, outperforming Batgirl and even some of the later seasons of Legends of Tomorrow.
It's a show I really will miss and I kind of really wish the show could be saved because with the way superhero stuff seems to be going darker, it really would be nice to have one keep the light of hope going.
