Barbataurus

It’s kinda’ fun how Gundams in IBO have animal motifs to them with an occasion extra limb or two, and then Barbataurus just embraces this by being a literal centaur; just for kicks, it’s even got a pair of large horns which play into the “Taurus” part of its name. Not to mention, having a bow and arrow is pretty thematic of a mobile suit that borrows ideas from old mythology.

Neo Barbataurus

Meant as a follow up to my other Barbataurus posts*

I thought it would be fun to incorporate Lupus and Rex into a Barbataurus, just to further illustrate how much of a monster ‘Taurus’ is meant to be, and to act as somewhat of an upgrade. I opted for a set of four swords because I had rigged up a set of secondary arms that can wield them as well.

To those of you who own a Barbataurus, here’s an idea: The 30MM Multi Wing/Booster contains this little blade-like wing-

You can use the horn on Taurus’ shoulder to mark an indent where you need to trim it-

The inlet that’s cut is for that horn on the shoulder, and you’ll also need to ever-so-slightly sand down the surrounding area so the section with the pegs is a little thinner-

You may need to do a little more adjustments, but it’s possible to fit that wing in the same area as the larger horns on Barbataurus.

“Dark Barbatos”

Any time I see someone “””customize””” a Barbataurus, typically they just take off the back legs and leave it at that. No offense, but that’s just lazy. So using the same principal of customizing an OOB Barbataurus, using only what’s in the kit, here’s something I came up with-

I went with an asymmetrical design because I felt it complemented the vfin and I figured using the initial Barbatos shoulder with the longer one from Taurus would give it a Zaku-vibe. The only soft-modding I did was shave down part of the original Barbatos’ chest so the Taurus fins could fit into it.

It's been a bit since I posted a model, so here's my custom Barbataurus. It reminded me a lot of Crimson Helm from Okami. Really like how it turned out.
