barbie: explorer (2001)
funny anecdote abt my childhood, when i was 8 i got the game barbie explorer on christmas and this game is deadass a ripoff of both tomb raider and crash bandicoot
barbie can walk slowly like lara and her story is also about finding a special artefact, she also goes to egypt and tibet, funny enough that "africa" and "egypt" are seperate levels LMFAO many movements she can do are very inspired by lara, barbie just cant swim and gets hit by water fountans, dont ask me why
the crash elements are when you look at the level design, if u played it u know what i mean
it has many control issues but the worst thing is how the game ends on a cliffhanger, and nope we will not see what happens once barbie got everything
i guess my family knew i loved barbie too and went "wow so cool, shell love this"

Rise of the Dumb Raider.
Barbie Explorer (2001)
The most gender-neutral Barbie game I played as a kid was Barbie Explorer.
A few months ago I decided to replay it, and I even speedran it! I submitted 2 Any% runs to speedrun.com, this is the better one: https://www.speedrun.com/barbiex/run/zqrdk39y It’s a little bit longer than an hour and currently holding the 2nd place. The 1st place is taken by Zockerstu and takes a bit under an hour.
You know what I don't Understand about Modern "Gamer Guys" who try to Gatekeep Women?
I don't know about you, but I know a LOT of girls in my age group grew up with Barbie Computer Games
These games were THE SHIT
Sure there were a lot of dress up and story book games, but there were also some GREAT action games
BARBIE SECRET AGENT
This game was absolutely the shit. Sneaking around cameras, using gadgets, puzzles, AND great chase scenes??? This game truly had it all
BARBIE EXPLORER
Ever felt like playing Tomb Raider but as a blonde? This is your game. Fast paced action with a giant snake boss battle at the end
If you were a little girl in the early 2000s chances are you know this was THE SHIT. It had action, a fairly sandbox world, puzzles, decorating, and an almost dark twist to it. Basically Red Dead for little girls. If you know a kid who loves horses do them a favor and get them this game
BARBIE SUPER SPORTS
This one was so fun. It's basically Tony Hawk for girls. So many different tracks to work trough, I put in so many hours as a kid trying to get perfect scores on everything. Definitely not disappointing
So basically, younger millenial girls grew up with amazing action games LITERALLY MARKETED SPECIFICALLY TO THEM and you don't think we like videp games?? Pfft
Okay, who else played this game as a kid? I want to discuss fan ideas for what that sequel would have been (aka what if the game had a budget and was good)
